“Can you take a shower first I don’t want the house to smell”

“JUST LET HIM IN I CAN SEE MY HEART”

As an asian i have a strict "no shoes at home" policy, but when someone's bleeding all over the place shoes are the last thing on my mind

Take your boots off....

Nope. This is a work place. OSHA Rules demand they stay on.

During covid my aunt became one of the worst germaphobes ever. My uncle was having a heart attack and she refused to call for an ambulance because she didn’t want any people to enter the house. She also would not drive him to the hospital because every outside was infected. He luckily was able to call 911. When the paramedics arrived she demanded that the paramedics let her drench them with Lysol before they came in the house. They wouldn’t let her thank god because every second counts! She barricaded herself in her room during the whole thing and tried to sue the paramedics for making her house a biohazard. Never visited her husband in the hospital either. He is ok and they are now divorced thanks to that incident. Hallelujah!

When I called an ambulance for my husband they could have come in with muddy boots and I wouldn't have even noticed or cared. Carpets and floors can be cleaned, but people don't come back from death.

My coworker said at a previous job as a glazer he was installing a large mirror. Lady asked them to take their boots off. He said, “Sure, but if this glass falls and cuts my foot in half, I’ll walk out bleeding and it’ll be worse than my boot prints”. They kept their boots on and she didn’t bother them

Just because there’s a life-threatening, time-sensitive medical emergency is no reason get the carpet all muddy.

I’m an EMT in Italy, in a small lakeside town near the Swiss border. Lots of tourists. We got a call for a traumatic injury. Patient was an underage Swiss teen. I’m talking German Swiss, a full 3 hour drive from our location
We assist the patient, and because he was underage we had to call the parents to inform them of the situation.
The mother, who was in Switzerland, demanded we did not move her son until she arrived at the scene.
Now, this was a serious head injury, we had to call a helicopter, yet she insisted we wait the full three hours for her to arrive.
Fortunately, we got authorization both from the medic and the authorities to move the patient without parental consent. Last I heard he’s not dead, so that’s fine I guess

As a polynesian, if I’m having a medical emergency in my house, the no shoes and close the door policy is null and void.

This would be my mother 😂 I once got a gash in my calf when I was 14yrs and was pouring blood and she had me sit with a towel on it while she finished talking to my grandmother about someone having a baby…I remember getting more and more lightheaded as she yacked away 🤦‍♀️ took 32 stitches! So wasn’t like a little cut it was down to bone!

These people genuinely exist. I have worked in 3000ish homes as a contractor. There are some folks who couldn't pay me enough money to work for them.

Just say “you don’t want that. what do you think my socks are like after wearing these boots all day every day?”

Lol. The last time we called EMS for my dad's heart, they responded with an ambulance, paramedic vehicle and a fire truck. There were at least 11 people in our living room.
Oddly, we weren't that concerned about the carpet...

That’s when you find out a family member or friend doesn’t love you as much as you thought they did. 💀 😢

"Can you take your boots off?" Nope, next question?

Came through as 6 year old not breathing - mother asked us to put shoe covers on and was blocking us from coming in without them (I wear size 13s and my 7'0" colleage made mine look small - they were not gonna fit even if we tried). We ended up having the child brought out to us, and unsurprisingly she was breathing just fine. I hope if it had been an actual emergency the mum wouldn't have worried about her carpet.

Let me guess: the person who wants EMS to close the door behind them and take shoes off is also the person who thinks EMS is gonna be able to make the patient "all better" on site. You know, and avoid an expensive ambulance/ hospital trip.

I've had that. Young woman distressed took a kitchen knife to her arm. Her partner and boss of the motel shrugged and said she'll be fine and went back to the party downstairs. Um. No. She HAD hit an artery and "painted" a Jackson Polick on the walls. I had to sit in a pool of her blood for an hour holding pressure on it with virtually every bit of clothing on me. Writing for the ambulance because the others had missed told them the severity of the situation and it was a small town far away from a hospital.

I would never remove my boots on scene. Don't care how nice their house is or how dirty my boots are.
