The title says: 1440p on 27 or 32 in?
The whole video they talk about 1080p vs 720p
WTF?

A lot of people could not tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.
Me: immediately switches the video's resolution from 1080p to 720p to make sure.

the irony of watching a video discussing resolutions, that will only load at 360p. Thanks YouTube

I remember upgrading to hdmi from av cables for my xbox 360 and I instantly saw a difference on the dashboard. I was amazed.

Size also makes a big difference. Many people would not notice the difference between 1080p and 4k on a 43 inch TV but I'm pretty sure they would on a 65 70 inch one.

Who remembers TVs with 1080i resolution

Main thing that makes you spot the difference in visual are two things: -
1. The PIXEL PER INCH (Screen Density) on your monitor are manufactured
2. The types of media that are being encoded and decoded

The two biggest things I love about 1440p/4k (they're both roughly the same to me) is the sharpness of the edges of things and the extra vibrancy of colors since their's more pixels to have more colors.

We still have our 1080p Samsung in our living room from 2008. Prior to that we didn't even have cable! (We have DISH now.) My mother is still happy with this TV and sees no reason to upgrade it yet.

I remember 1080p looking better than 720p but on small monitors, 720p looked "good enough" back then. I have a 55" 4k tv and game on a 27" 1440p monitor and at least at the view distances I'm at, there's not a huge difference to me. Gaming looks fantastic at 1440p and I get the bonus of a 144 hz refresh rate, something I couldn't do at 4k.

Used a 27" 1080p monitor many, many years. 34" 3440x1440 feels huge but... I kind of want more now.

I remember my first time watching Tosh.O in 1080i on DirectTV. I thought it looked too sharp and too realistic lol

I mean on youtube. 720p isn't labeled HD anymore. Has anyone else noticed that this year.It doesn't have a little red hd wording next to it.

1080p is fine upto a 19 inch monitor. A large 1080p TV is OK at a viewing distance that's typically further away. 1440p is great on a 26 inch monitor. A 34 inch ultra wide with a 3440x1440 resolution is good because it has the same number of pixels per inch as a the 26 inch 1440p display, it has more pixels but the pixel density doesn't change because even though there are 33% more pixels the screen is also 33% larger on the X axis. My old monitor was a 23" 1080p display and modern AAA games look terrible on it because it's too big for the viewing distance on a typical office desk because it has fewer pixels per inch.

Yeah, I remember the "1080P is stupid" arguments. And all the posts on how you had to sit like all up in the TV to ever see it.
Same as with 4K... When all the "1080P is stupid" finally got a 1080p panel. Then its "4K is stupid".
I am happy with my 1080P TV, But I can't deny 4K is even smoother when I see one.

My old LG 19" CRT monitor we got back in 2001 for our pentium 4, it did 1280x1024 at 85hz. Sadly, around 2008 it died and dad found and bought an asus 17" tn widescreen 1440x900 at 60hz. The colors were super cool, but the drop from 85hz to 60hz felt just blurry, i remember it even today, is it possible that the older CRT screens were that much sharper cause they could handle higher refresh rates?

I can honestly say that there isn´t a big difference between my 1440p and my 1080p monitor (both 27 inches). If I switch to my 1080p monitor directly after I played on my 1440p monitor I notice the difference, but after 5-10 minutes I get used to the slightly lower resolution (and the little bit worse colors, TN vs IPS) and enjoy the game again.
