(I want my MTV)

Now look at them yo-yo's that's the way you do it
You play the guitar on the M.T.V.
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and your chicks for free.

Now that ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Lemme tell ya them guys ain't dumb
Maybe get a blister on your little finger
Maybe get a blister on your thumb.

We gotta install microwave ovens custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators we gotta move these color T.V.'s.

The little faggot with the earring and the makeup
Yeah buddy that's his own hair
That little faggot got his own jet airplane
That little faggot, he's a millionaire

We gotta install microwave ovens custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators we gotta move these color T.V.'s.

I shoulda learned to play the guitar
I shoulda learned to play them drums
Look at that mama she got it stickin' in the camera
Man we could have some fun

And he's up there, what's that? Hawaiian noises?
You bangin' on the bongos like a chimpanzee
Oh that ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Get your money for nothin' get your chicks for free.

We gotta install microwave ovens custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators we gotta move these color T.V.'s.

Listen here
Now that ain't workin' that's the way to do it
You play the guitar on the M.T.V.
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and your chicks for free
Money for nothin' and the chicks for free
(Get your) Money for nothin' and chicks for free
Money for nothin' and the chicks for free (I want my, I want my MTV)
Money for nothin' and the chicks for free

My dad showed me this song when I was younger and I loved it. He passed away last week. This will forever be mine and his song

In case you had the doubt: This video is seen on average 300 times every hour, that is, 7, 200 times per day. Which means that the moment you are seeing it, it is very likely that several people are seeing it as well. This comment is in response to those who at any time ask if someone is seeing it in this or that month. Regards.

When that guitar hits, you instantly feel like the coolest person in the room.

When the man who wrote this riff doesn’t know how to replicate it completely himself, you know you have a truly legendary riff on your hands. Mark Knoplfer literally wrote the most iconic and clean and masterful riff, played it once, and said “I don’t know what was happening, but I just played.” When the legend Mark Knopfler himself struggles to recreate it, you know that this is one of the few cases where lighting was *literally* captured in a bottle.

One day, when I was a kid, I came back home from school and my father said to me: "let's go to the record store". We went together and he purchased this album. We went back home and he blasted it, and we rocked together to this track. Can you imagine how badass my dad looked to me right there ? This track will forever be imprinted in my mind We actually went and saw Mark playing live when I was an adult. Isn't life beautiful ?

No Matter how many times I've heard this song. The Intro still gives me the chills when I play it loud enough.

Fun Fact: if you start to play this 24 seconds into 11:58pm on new years eve, you can start the new year to the best guitar solo ever made

My dad showed me this awesome song a couple years ago. When it started, I was just like "yeah, it sounds okay." But when that guitar started playing, I was like "where has this song been all my life?" Awesome song, one of the best guitar songs ever. One of the main reasons I am learning guitar now. Just an amazing song. Forever grateful to my dad, he grew up in a truly amazing era of music.

These guys literally created the coolest intro of all time… and gave it to a song about microwaves.
Edit: Christ these replies are one big “Uhm Aktually” moment
