We also have to take into account that this is DDR4 3600 vs DDR5 6000. It's not only the CPU boosting the fps.

No point in upgrading if you game at 4K. Not until graphics cards get much faster at 4K

Well, I think I will stick to my 3900x for a couple more years for day-to-day tasks. It handles everything still very well, even for Photoshop or video editing. And I don't want to spend a lot of money on a new RAM, motherboard, etc. for a 100% faster system in the best-case scenario. I know 100% performance sounds like big deal but reality is in day to day you are not going to notice that much of difference unless you are running it like some type of server.

The test shold be 1440p and 4k too. The diference would be minimal

you should really include all the test like on remnant2 with different resolutions since a lot of people moved from fullhd or even 2k to 4k....if they really need to change the system or the 3900x with like 4090 will be enough for most of the titles...

I don't get why all the tests are in 1080p. Like I get it. It makes the CPU work harder and shows the difference in that alone. But we all know the 9900x is gonna be better lol. You should redo this teat in 1440 and 4K so see how much of a difference the 3900x and 9900x make when actually gaming in higher resolutions

no one would use 1080p resolution with a 4090 in 2024

on one hand 9900x is significantly faster, yes, but on the other 3900x still provides a respectable performance if you are targeting 60hz high resolution gaming and even do 144hz+ on esport tittles.

thank you for testing in higher graphic setting than low, like other benchmarker out there

Im glad you're investing more time in the channel

so 3900x is the perfect processor for rtx 3090, anything stronger will be a bit too strong and if someone plays in 4k 60fps, they can still buy 4090 and play on the old CPU.

The difference is wild like 2x but i think i will keep my 3900x last year and i will change him

I'm on a 3900XT with RTX 3070 and about to upgrade to 9900x since it was $380 on Amazon the other day.

But I do video editing as well as gaming, trying to cut my workload times down

just waiting for new 9800x3d and intel ultra 200 for reviews before upgrade

These are great examples of CPUs that you shouldn't be buying for gaming. These are effectively low-cost workstation CPUs. They work fine for gaming if you ALSO want to do that on the side, but you should absolutely not be being a 12-core dual chiplet cpu for gaming, unless maybe there is some game you play very often which I'm not aware of which benefits a lot from heavily threaded performance.

I got a 3900x with a RX 7900 XT and its more then enough for me

Why don't you include the resolution for all the games? CPU performance is best measured in 1080p.

Thanks so much for this comparison. Can you do one with productivity? Cinebench, Blender, etc? I know the new 9900x is faster, but how much faster in multi-core workloads?

Amazing, the old CPU has to be replaced immediately.🙃
