I like the idea that the snail is constantly trying to kill/touch you because it doesn't want to be immortal. The snail has been cursed with immortality and is trying its best to save itself in the one way it can. Also, it is pained/gifted with possibly a conscious and the knowledge of your location, all the time, without end.

Fun fact: a lot of people forget a huge part of the snail’s origin story. In the original prompt, you also get a million dollars if you agree to have the snail follow you.

The man who came up with the snail, Gavin Free, never even came up with the idea of it making you immortal. It was somebody ELSE who proposed that idea while discussing it with him.

The original question was simply “you get a million dollars, but this snail follows you for the rest of your life, and you die if you touch it”. That is to say, it would follow you for the rest of your natural life, and wouldn’t extend it.

I think i know what the painful death is, its you dont die but still live, to not be destroyed physical but emotional (seeing all your loved ones die and your the last) and mentally (your trapped to stay and live with the memory that you will never see another live thing other than you and the snail)
