I evacuated Tampa on Sunday but no one would go with me. I offered free rides to neighbors but they wanted to wait and see. I knew gas was spotty since Helene so left early to avoid the traffic and had no problems with gas getting to Georgia. In a nice hotel watching this on TV. Not sure when I can return home. Hope people choosing to stay are doing well.

When I saw Sarasota on the map a few hours ago, I knew right away Siesta Key was going to be slammed. This makes me sad because a year before the Covid pandemic, my dad’s side of the family had a reunion at Siesta Key, which was not only my first, and so far, only time in Florida, but also my first time ever on a tropical beach. It was also the last time I saw my grandma just before she died from cancer a couple months before the pandemic shutdown. So very sad to see a place with so many happy memories being decimated
