Hurricane Milton has made landfall in the US state of Florida.

More than two million homes and businesses are without power, and there have been "a number of deaths" reported on the Atlantic coast.

Milton was downgraded from a category five hurricane to category one, but is still wreaking havoc.

It comes two weeks after Hurricane Helene killed at least 225 people in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.

Tampa Bay here. We came through undamaged, but still have no power. Haven't slept, but too dangerous to go out yet. Lots of tornadoes landing everywhere. RIP to those who didn't make it. 😢

I'm still perplexed as to why after 9 years of this there are individuals who find the most complaining and delicate crybaby on the planet praiseworthy.

10 tornados within a few hours is insane & I still can’t comprehend the danger. I hope the people who stayed will be safe. It must be terrifying

I'm in Tampa, and it is the worst I have ever seen. Pray for us. The news is not showing you how bad it is.

And imagine it's only going to get progressively worse throughout our lifetime

To everyone saying it's n9t as dangerous because it downgraded before making landfall, it's not the winds that area the problem, it's the storm surge. The category 5 stage would have pushed a lot of water ahead of it and even if the storm downgraded, that water is still being pushed ahead of the storm. It's the storm surge that takes the most lives in hurricanes. There will still be an enormous surge even if it's only category 3 or 4 and not 4. Stay safe guys :)

People seriously need to get their head out of their asses. So what if it wasn't as bad as predicted? You'd swear people wanted complete and utter devastation! It was PREDICTED to be a catastrophic storm. Pick up a dictionary and educate yourself on what 'predicted' means.

Somehow managed to get hit by the storm, but my home took no damage and I still have power. Was able to go to my workplace when it stopped, and the building is completely flooded...

Brenda's description of being in the eye of the storm was very interesting.

The sight of this hurricane and the damage that its capable of producing, it is truly terrifying but nothing compared to those who are in Florida and around those areas. Please stay safe and know that I hope and pray this Hurricane ends. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I know that my thoughts may be meaningless to some but I doubt it is for those who all need their togetherness of everyone else to hope that this doesn't go on for too long.

As terrifying as this is, it's still good that the US and other powerful countries are starting to feel the effects of climate change firsthand instead of just developing countries. This will definitely give US politicians that deny climate change some pause.

Daytona next high tide looks to be around 2 in the afternoon. For those along the coast who may be wondering approximately 4'3" without the increase from this hurricane's storm surge. I have yet to notice any broadcast providing this info for whatever reason. Look carefully where you drive today, hidden debris could be in water you drive or wade through. Wishing all a safe happy day, your alive !

Massive damage expected. It is a very difficult moment for all. Our prayers are with the residents of Tampa. Hopefully the damage won't be as predicted.

I believe relief would be prompt once it is over.
