The United States military didn't stop using the Pacific Proving Grounds after Operation Greenhouse in 1951. They kept detonating thermonuclear weapons there for several years. In 1952, Operation Ivy continued with Eniwetok Atoll as the main base of operations.

The explosion shown in this video took place on Elugelab Island. The island was gone after a 10.4 megaton explosion converted it to a water filled crater.

As this video is government produced, it doesn't mention the USAF pilot who died during the test nor the massive amount of radioactive fallout that resulted. Despite this, we think the footage is historically interesting and relevant.

We have tried to make slight improvements to the audio and video quality, though there are still many imperfections. Additionally we edited out ten minutes of footage to try and make this version more watchable by modern audiences.
