Nuclear bomb blasts: Ivy Mike, Teapot Apple, Tea Pot Bee and Joe 2 (or RDS-2)
Показать описание
Ivy Mike was the codename given to the first test of a thermonuclear device, in which part of the explosive yield comes from nuclear fusion.
It was detonated on November 1, 1952, by the United States on Enewetak, an atoll in the Pacific Ocean, as part of Operation Ivy.
The device was the first full test of the Teller-Ulam design, a staged fusion bomb, and was the first successful test of a hydrogen bomb.
Due to its physical size and fusion fuel type (cryogenic liquid deuterium), the Mike device was not suitable for use as a weapon; it was intended as an extremely conservative experiment to validate the concepts used for multi-megaton detonations.

Operation Teapot was a series of fourteen nuclear test explosions conducted at the Nevada Test Site in the first half of 1955. It was preceded by Operation Castle Bravo.
Operation Teapot tests:
"Apple"
The Civil Defense "Apple" shot on 5 May 1955 was intended to test various building construction types in a nuclear blast. An assortment of buildings, including residential houses and electrical substations, were constructed at the site nicknamed "Survival Town". The buildings were populated with mannequins and stocked with different types of canned and packaged foods. Not all of the buildings were destroyed in the blast, and some of them still stand at Area 1, Nevada Test Site.
"Bee"
An augmented test unit from the United States Marine Corps participated in shot "Bee" during the March 1955 exercises.

The atomic and industrial espionages in the United States by American sympathizers of communism who were controlled by their resident Russian officials in North America greatly aided the speed of the Soviet atomic project from 1942–54.
Joe 2, originally known as RDS-2 consisted of an important Soviet nuclear test.
The 38.3 kiloton device RDS-2 was tested based on a tritium "boosted" uranium implosion device with a levitated core, on September 24, 1951.
This test was code-named Joe 2 by the CIA.
