Wayanad Landslide | A devastating landslide in Kerala's Wayanad district on July 30 has claimed at least 43 lives and injured over 70 people. The landslide, caused by heavy rainfall, predominantly impacted Mundakai and Chooralmala. Rescue operations are underway with the assistance of the Indian Army and NDRF. Efforts are being hindered by the collapse of a crucial bridge and blocked roads. Prime Minister Modi and other leaders have voiced their concern, and shelter camps have been set up for those affected.

The government of India ( center and state) is incompetant. Elected Politicians are busy doing vote bank politics than do any real work on the ground. Every year, this is a sad state of affairs in India. There is drought like situation in summers, floods during monsoons. Thousand of lives are lost and 100s of crores worth of property is destroyed each year. Yet the babus and politicians do not do any thing to safe guard the interest of people.
Building licenses are given to the highest bidder without any thoughts about whether the land is low lying or hilly. The very rules made to protect forests and hills are broken by money hungry politicians/civil servants and licenses to build buildings given to greedy builders. I have lost all hope that India will ever improve.
