No need to blame anything, i hv been livn in Kerala especially northern hilly areas so long, the rainy season in Kerala was not this much ferocious before. The change in raining is visible in monsoon, the raining time shortened nd the amount of water increased means pouring rain in short period, this phenomenon started visible around ten to fifteen years ago.
Climate change is a reality accept it.

Deforestation and housing in low lying areas are the prime reason.. Especially with a climate temperature of average around > 20-25 is a perfect spot for landslide that too with heavy rainfall...Wayanad fits all in that.. Rest in peace for all those lives lost..Jai hind ...

Govt should not allow public to construct houses. Forest areas should be protected. Govt should identify scientifically crital areas, especially below the hill areas and maintain no human belts. Future this human losses should not happen.

Many scientific reports are available proving that the Western Ghat region is environmentally fragile . Therefore the construction of Resorts & enthronement of forest land should be stopped. Govt. should acquire the holdings of peoples in landslide prone areas with reasonable compensation & rehabilitate them in safer areas . It is high time to control the population growth in Kerala which is the main reason for illegal encroachment of forest areas in Western Ghats . The regions which are susceptible to landslide should be notified and those residing in such areas have to be rehabilitated at the earliest, so as to prevent further loss of lives . We can not control the rainfall and landslides, but we can save the people by rehabilitating in safer areas . Illegal quarrying & construction of resorts in such areas should be stopped . These are the only practical solutions .

Keen to find a government that should be asked to pay the bill? The drama of fighting to have some thing a National disaster has been played often. A disaster is a disaster. National or not. But to a poliician that is perhaps the starting point.

Climatic change is the real reason. There are thousands of slopes in Kerala ready to slide. They need some more water within a short period to start their journey. Most of slopes sad, because they receive a lot of water in a long period, which delays slipping. The cloud bursting is wonderful key to start landslide. Climate change resulted raise in the number of cloud bursting here. So the landslide wouldbe regular phenomenal . We are compelled to leave such area free .

Sad to say, if we don't respect the might of nature, the lesson taught by nature is unforgettable. Next is Tamilnadu, but in huge proportion 😢.

We are good in doing postmortem after devastation. Let's see how the government is going to rehabilitate the displaced and affected people

What role RG played here as the MP representing Wayanad. He has no good words for the armed forces. TOI should not have published his ritual of a 2minutes interview speaking hollow words.
