They must’ve had so many mixed and deep feelings, excited, scared, seeing Earth as we see the moon. I wonder how they prepared for the fact there was a strong possibility they wouldn’t make it home. It was all heart and steel. I can’t wait to see humans return there, my life will be complete. I just hope I’m alive for the human mission to Mars.

look at the lunar dust coming off the wheels of the rover closely and you'll see undeniable proof that they were driving on the moon. God bless America

The lunar rover's wheels were made of stainless steel wire mesh, supported by a light steel skeleton. You can't use regular air-pressurized rubber tires on the moon because the pressure difference would make the tires explode. The steel mesh tires were lighter, but stiff and sturdy enough to hold their shape in the reduced gravity of the moon. If you tried to drive it on earth the wheels would collapse.

Does anyone know, if they were limited, to only traveling as far as they could walk back to the lunar lander?

We never went there. And there's no Santa claus either. Sorry to spoil your day. Time to grow up.
