5 Reasons to buy a VW Transporter Campervan vs other alternatives
In this video, we're going to compare the benefits of buying a VW Transporter Camper van vs other alternatives. We'll discuss key reasons to buy a VW Transporter Campervan, such as the price, reliability, parts, help, support and guidance.

After watching this video, you'll have a better understanding of why the VW Transporter Campervan is the best choice for you!

However, with the big news and the t6.1 factory orders closed, will the new model completely change the landscape of the existing VW Camper van life scene?
Volkswagen are stopping production of the current Transporter T6.1 (As explained in my previous video)

In this video is will explain which campervan to buy, the best van for camper van conversion and why. The reasons why you should buy a VW Transporter rather than another make of van.

Aspects discussed are:
- Price - Is the Volkswagen more expensive?
- Conversions - Are other conversions available? Are they properly safety tested?
- Help, support, guidance, hints tips and advice, problem solving, inspiration
- Availability of aftermarket parts for improvement and modification
- Reliability

-----------------------------------
Some ESSENTIAL items for you to have to keep safe in your van

-----------------------------------

Whether you have a T5, VW T5.1, T6, T6.1 or even an older T2, T2.5, T4, the VW Vanlife scene is amazing, with so much help and assistance available for whatever project you wish to attempt. Panel van, Kombi, Converted Camper or VW California Beach or Ocean, enjoy the freedom van life brings.

The @Staycation Lifestyle van conversion is coming along.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.

I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.

Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.

Vanlife for me is just beginning, it's a great adventure and I'm loving it. 😍

There are many great camper adventures to come

Thanks must go to the following:
Transporter HQ for my tailgate struts
Kiravans for my Swivel Seats

The Merc sprinter is a comparable vehicle to the vw crafter. Not the transporter! I’ve had LTs t25 t4 t5. And t5.1. Ye your right it’s hard to get them out your system.

I hope we get a less biased comparison in the near future. I nearly went to sleep listening to the monotone lauding of the VW Transporter.

I work for a big international rent a car company, in its fleet department, and I get to see reports of which vehicles break down the most. Our reports show pretty much the same results, Sprinters and Transporters only go back to the garage when they are damaged, however Ford Transits have some issues in the injectors and a couple things. Not all of them break down but some do. We only keep the vans for 2 years from new.

I just traded in my motor (Toyota Highlander Hybrid) for a VW Transporter T6.1 Kombi, after making the final decision between a Ford Custom and the VW. Two days later I nearly suffered massive regret when I found out the Custom has a wet belt system - I was worried the VW had the same. Phew, it doesn't. Thank goodness. I'm a retired engineer, but you don't have to be an engineer to realise the wet belt system is an insane idea!

7:40, I love my brand new T6.1 but I had my van in the garage for a couple of times. First was false reduce oil level and second one that still persists is false child lock warning message. My van is covered by warranty, but there is inconvenience and business loss every time it is in the garage.

Don't forget to mention the issues they get. Fly wheels ..Egr etc etc.

Quite happy with my Fiat Talento lwb safe, professional, gas safe conversion with a crash tested rib bed. More space and practicality with a squarer van and looks nicer in my opinion as well, with about £15 to £20k still in the bank to enjoy ourselves with on outings. You don't have to pay that £ premium if you are sensible and not a badge snob for a van that does the same thing and is just as reliable.
There are more Fiats used in general in campervans and motorhomes than anything else and for a good reason.
I got my Fiat converted at a mainly Volkwagen bespoke converter. I asked him at the time would it be difficult converting mine as opposed to a Volkswagen. He said "at the end of the day, it is just a square metal box either way".
As far as Ford goes, I think that 32 years longevity is ok. Vinny the Ford Transit on expawers youtube channel is 32 years old. So no, there is no valid reason apart from choice to buy a Volkwagen over another make of van.

I had a T6 from new. After 2 years and 70, 000km i sold it. The DSG is a piece of crap. The booming road noise also finally got to me. I did 500, 000km in T4 petrol and diesel and i can tell you all modern vans seem to go UP in price and have shorter lifespans with each generation.

Had quite a few vans over the years and my new daily-an older T5, just feels way more “substantial” than my last van which was a fairly new Vauxhall vivaro, just something about German design and engineering, I do worry that the new van platform shared with a transit could loose that feel or heritage that comes with any transporter.
Don’t get me wrong the new customs are nice, but you just know it’s a Ford

Considering a Transit Custom rather than a Transporter to be honest, all of the transporters in my price range (I'm not made of money) are poverty spec and missing things like Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Bluetooth etc that other brands add as standard.

The vans are more expensive and fixing them is rediculous. Newer VWs are troublesome. The Vivaro is by far the best and easy to get parts and camper bits. They have been going a long time but in name only, some were good like the water-cooled T3 and then it was all downhill...excepts costs.

We have a 2021 transporter and a 2021 ford custom. My husband has to put add blue in his custom every 7000km yet we don’t need to put add blue in the transporter till 40, 000km. That in its self is saving if money. He hates the custom and will be getting a transporter for work asap

😂 It's a great bias review. My brand new transit custom may be a few grand less on resale, but exactly the same spec vw van from the same company was £5000 more, was smaller, had a smaller pay load and not as well equipped. How do you spot the difference between a transit custom driver and a vw driver at a set of lights.... answer.... the transit driver has a smug grin on his face😂😂

With Ford out selling MB, VW, and others in excess of 2 to 1 its only natural that you will have more bad reports than the others. So dont always believe what is reported. I am a very happy Ford User and have had Rangers for over 4 years and currently driving a Courier Limited. Never had a problem with any.

If I were buying a van to work would I buy a transit or similar yes maybe, but would I buy one for leisure hell no !

You have to stand in the Van and open the roof.
