DO NOT buy an Exedy Clutch, Z1 Motorsports Clutch Review.

I bought the Exedy stage one clutch kit and it started malfunctioning right after the warrenty period. I spent close to $900 on it and it has been a total waste of money. On the contrary Z1 motorsports clutch kit was very price competitive and works great.

FYI... Exedy makes OE and also many of the companies uses parts from Exedy. They also test each clutch before release. I've seen many users mis install and blame the company instead of owning up to their own mistakes.

I have an Exedy clutch...OEM replacement...and it's fabulous. No complaints. You might have had a problem with a particular clutch....but Exedy is an excellent brand, with different levels of performance. I'll be using Exedy once again, next time I do my clutch on my car. Choice is really between Luk and Exedy...and both are about the same...for my vehicle anyway. I chose Exedy because I think it has a better reputation, on the whole.

I've installed over 200 exedy oe and stage 1 clutches in my shop on various cars that see street use. including 300z and lots of sr20 setups, also mazda and honda variations. haven't had any issues.

Definitely installed incorrectly, check out the “Exedy technical insert 3” paper that was included with your clutch kit.

I just bought the Z1 6 puck clutch and lightweight flywheel for my Infiniti because I'll be installing a turbo kit. How aggressive is it? It will be my daily driver for the next few months

Thats a huge title for such a small installation issue thousands of exedy clutches run great I've used them for 20 yrs. I get sometimes you get the odd lemon or issue buy exedy is a great brand

Good luck with Z1 clutch, That is fast delivery. I've heard nothing but good comments about rock auto, but who knows What kind of problems did it cause, ? did it make Noise when shifting, sticking, ? 🎃. Can't wait for your video on this. Your intro is phenomenal! Its a good thing I saw your vid before deciding on a brand. But now its between this same z1 clutch along w their flywheel or jwt's full clutch kit. Have you had any experience with the jwt? I'm not looking for anything too crazy my mods are just gonma be FBO N/a. Also did you notice more or less chatter from the oem to z1? You got my sub btw 👌🏼.

If the clutch is not centered the spring retainers will hit the flower pedals

Kinda wish I saw this before I bought an Exidy daily-driver clutch kit for my 05 Honda Element from Rock Auto. The included release bearing was over-bored junk from China. Thought there was a problem with the pressure plate too - it made a clicking noise on disengagement and frequently grabs on engagement causing the car to lurch. Replaced under warranty but the issue was a blown thrust washer in the engine! That sucked!

I know its a totally different type of car but I had the same issue with the Exedy clutch I bought for my 2013 Scion TC. I will never purchase an exedy clutch again, its a waste of my money and time since I had to replace it due to the excessive rattle noise it was making

Sounds like u got a fake Exedy clutch kit. U gotta watch all these cheap stores.

exedy is probably the best clutch company lol I think u got a fake exedy. orrrr defective (with any brand there is a chance of a defective part). Another possibility, is your mechanic did not use the proper installation was not used

I’ve never had a problem with mine at all. I run a triple plate in my 700bhp gtrr33 no dramas at all. I also run them in my 4x4 single plate safari tuff clutch and a excedy tuff clutch no probs I’ve never seen rubbing like that on the pressure plate before never
