English - Welcome to Thursday trains from Schony747 and another rescue job performed by SSR EMD locomotives.

The SSR domestic broad grain train from Quambatook in Northern Victoria became disabled near Ballarat. S class diesel locomotive S312 failed leaving S317 the only operation locomotive.

What would normally be a train with two S class locomotives on the front, turned out to be a 6 EMD diesel locomotive lashup as S302, P18, B75 and P17 were all sent up to haul the disabled train from Ballarat.

Here is the rescued train at Brooklyn in Melbourne's West. See you next Sunday and Thursday for more trains - Brenden S

As a retired Train Driver, it amazes me to see how many trains these days, fail to haul their loads over grades that we in my day, NEVER failed. I believe the fault lies with the PRIVATISATION of systems, and the IGNORANCE of those companies not knowing the loads a particular class Loco can haul over a particular grade. In my day, we had BOOKS with every ruling grade therein, and what loco could and could not haul a load over said grade. Thus we NEVER failed to haul our loads over grades. We ALWAYS KNEW what our loco could haul, and if our load was exceeding the rated allowance, we refused to accept it, until it conformed with the manual. Of course these days, Manuals simply do not apply, and Rafferties rule do.

Great video, the smell from Swift meat works would put you off.

Couple of years ago whilst working at Qube one of the S Class Headlight got smashed by an owl.
One of the VR colourful ones.
Saved some of the glass & still have it till this day. That is one piece of thick glass to say the least.

Hope everyone's okay, loco's & semi's can be fixed, lives can't.

Great footage would of sounded awesome

With those 6 units today you would only need 1 GE4400, we have come along way from those days.

Nice work. From what I can tell S313?(other footage) is going to need an overhaul quite soon too.

American engineers take note, one 1 second blast of the horn is enough at the level crossing, no need for 20 seconds of unnecessary noise. American motorists will still run into a train if it is already crossing in front of them.
