I wouldn’t recommend skipping yearly physicals. As a cancer survivor, early detection saves lives. Please keep healthy but get a physical yearly.

I wont skip doctor visits. My dad finally went to the doctor after 20 years of not going and within months they found out he had stage 4 terminal cancer. He just made it to retirement age and he is in hospice because he is at the end of his life.

Dont skip checkups even if you think you're healthy. Women should be getting cervical cancer screenings and mammograms from their 20s. Men need to be getting colonoscopies. Dont take the chance of cutting your life short by not getting preventative screenings.

If they had caught my dads cancer early he might have lived to 90. Now he's happy he got 6 years and made it to 64. Without that blood test where they found he had anemia and detection he would have passed away already. We got 4-5 more years with him because he went to the doctor (finally) but we could have had way more.

Don't skip the doctor. Go to the dermatologist, get your skin checked, it can save your life. Teeth cleanings and check-ins are important since you have them the rest of your life. Get your eyes checked, reduce strain by seeing if you need glasses.
If you're only looking at it from a financial standpoint, it is much cheaper to catch something earlier than deal with a bigger problem later.

Wise words from my father: If you live smart, you don't have to work as hard. ❤

I have to disagree with you about yearly doctor and dentist visits. Early detection is key for almost everything. It's your life, but I don't think that's good advice to share.

I saved myself $ by replacing the alternator in my car myself and I’m not a mechanic. I also recently replaced a hose to my mom’s car windshield wipers that only cost $2. Now the water squirts out perfectly! Thanks for the great tips!

He is so right about the cleaners. I work retail and see people spending a small fortune on cleaners (and also on Febreze). It's insane! I work in a low-ish income area and I swear a lot of mid to low income people would be financially comfortable if they made consistent and modest changes to their buying habits. I'm not saying skimping in these areas will make you rich, but 20-30 years of just skimping on stuff like this would put you in a different financial league.

The smaller home was life changing! We are a family of 4 living in a 1 bedroom apartment. 362sqft.

We are always on the go and have 0 need for a living room so the living room is our kids room!

Speaking of haircuts, buying a nice set of clippers and learning to cut your own hair can save you a ton of money. I bought a $50 set of clippers from Costco about 14 years ago and the amount of money I've saved on haircuts is pretty substantial!

My one regret is that I did not become much more serious about savings when I was in my 20s or 30s. Being closer to 50 has me a little worried. Even though I do have some savings, it could have been more.

sometimes i felt, no matter how much you save, an unexpected life event will drain it away... just that it will hit you less hard (e.g. a soft landing).

Maybe consider an annual health check up, blood and urine tests. Think of it as an investment in yourself. Whats that ultimately worth?

A quick way to save - stop comparing yourself to anything. Be happy with what makes you happy. Want to eat broccoli and rice everyday? go for it. Want to have an e-bike and not a car? go for it. Want to play 40 hrs of video games as opposed to going to the latest (fill in the blank)? Go for it. In 6 months no one will even remember what they did, let alone what you did. Live your life to your standard. The endless comparing leads to hollow consumerism.

When my kids were smaller we also saved 50% butttt they’re almost adults now and eat like adults, need clothes in adult sizes etc. To have 4 adults in the household with ”only” two salaries have proven to be tough when it comes to saving money. My kids pitch in with cooking etc and we love to have them home, of course but it’s not cheap. I did check some grocery prizes and for example butter is up 50% and potatoes are up 100% compared to pre pandemic so it’s seems to me like ”inflation” but mostly greed makes a huge difference in our grocery budget each month. We do already follow almost all of your tips as well. We do grow some food at home and for next year we really need to grow more with these prizes. We’re living in Sweden 🇸🇪

Gabe your video shocked me in a good way. When you showed that calendar with the weeks remaining of your life and then talked about the freedom you can gain saving money it blew my mind. Had an aha moment. Thanks!!!

He was just saying to stay healthy. He didn’t say to avoid the doctor. He was giving his example of making good food choices and exercising which he feels has helped him not have any medical issues.
