Great explanation and thank you for bringing attention to this 👏👏👏

I hope this helps non-autistic people to better understand and and have more acceptance regarding repetitive behaviors like eating, routine, etc.

I’ve had friends/family members who just don’t respect why I need to keep to my routine as much as possible. I try to be flexible about certain things but I’ve learned I have to have boundaries for my own mental health.

If I didn’t I would be in shut down quickly- because they all want me to just drop what I’m doing and go do whatever, whenever. I get called ‘rigid’, etc but whatever.

I'm a postman.. Ive been a postman for 13 years.. I do the same round everyday.. I drive and ride on the same roads every day.. When Im sorting the mail I listen to my iPod and listen to the same doof music every day.. When I get home I eat the same thing - pasta, a can of salmon, a can of lentils and vegie pasta sauce - every day.. I dont get bored with it.. I love eating the same thing.. Even at work - for lunch its the same thing.. Why change when I enjoy eating the same stuff.. At home Im rewatching all of StarGate for like the hundredth time...

What I have found interesting with repetitive behavior is when I decide to change part of my daily routine, and I know it is a good change, but it is still distressing to experience that change until I get used to it.
