Tablo Network Connected DVRs are designed for cord cutters who want to enjoy their favorite over-the-air shows from their tv antenna. Anytime.
Anywhere. They do not feature an hdmi connection.Instead these over-the-air (OTA) DVRs connect to your home's router to stream live and recorded tv from your TV antenna to the Tablo app on your supported smart tv, streaming media player, or mobile device.

Here's how to unbox and set up your Network-Connected Tablo OTA DVR. First you'll need your TV antenna and unless your model includes onboard
storage you'll need a USB hard drive. We recommend between one and eight terabytes depending on how much HDTV you want to record.

USB flash drives are not recommended. Now that we have access to over-the-air OTA tv signals and somewhere to store recordings you can move on to your Tablo box.

Let's open the box to show you what your Tablo over-the-air OTA DVR comes with. First you'll see a Tablo quick start guide with helpful information and tips for setup success. It contains many of
the recommendations we'll cover in this video.

Setting that aside you'll find your Tablo over-the-air DVR. Your ethernet cable. Your Tablo power adapter and that's what's in the box. Now let's get you set up find a good place near your TV antenna. Ensure the coaxial cable is connected to your over-the-air antenna and secure it to the coaxial connector on the back of the Tablo DVR.

Plug in your USB hard drive and set it beside, not on top of your Tablo device. We recommend a wired connection wherever possible. Use the included ethernet cable to connect your Tablo DVR directly to your home network. By plugging one end into your router and the other end into your Tablo's ethernet port. Not only will this prevent buffering if your wi-fi network is older.

It also gives you the option to set up your Tablo through the Roku or Apple TV apps. If an ethernet connection is not possible don't worry, your Tablo can be connected over wi-fi later on in the setup.

Finally plug your Tablo power adapter into the nearest outlet or power bar and plug the other end into your Tablo DVR. First-time setup of your network Tablo DVR using wi-fi can be done using the Tablo app on your smartphone or tablet.

First be sure to check that your ethernet cable is not connected to the back of your Tablo. Next make sure your mobile device is connected to your home wi-fi network. Open the Tablo app and select add via wi-fi your Tablo will begin broadcasting its own unique wi-fi network.

Next we leave, but don't close the Tablo app. Navigate to your device's network settings screen finding connect to the wi-fi network that starts with Tablo. Now return to the Tablo app and select the name of your home's wi-fi network you'll be asked to enter your home's wi-fi password now. Click join. Your Tablo should now be connected to your home's wi-fi.

wizard will now check for and install any available firmware updates. This ensures you're using the latest and greatest software.

Before formatting your hard drive and walking you through a channel scan. Every Tablo comes with a free 30-day trial of our TV guide data and premium service subscriptions. This includes our automatic commercial skip feature you can turn it on or off at any time in the Tablo settings menu.

I actually found the model before this one at the Goodwill. It’s amazing! I’m hooked, it’s so easy to use and view on all devices. I currently use the Amazon version. I’m going to sell the amazing version and buy this new model. Thanks Tablo! Great tech!

Is there a way to record to a network drive? I have an external hard drive connected to my WIFI router. Can it be accessed as an SMB device?

This video states that every Tablo device comes with a free 30-day trial of the TV guide data ... so after 30 days the TV guide isn't free? We have to pay for the TV guide? What happens after 30 days? We won't be able to use the guide? I don't understand this part.

I have the Tablo set up through my cellphone with the app. How do I watch the programs on other devices? I don't see an option to download the app on my Samsung Smart TV through the Smart Hub. Please help...

You have a great idea in theory but this is too complicated for most older Americans that want to cut the cord it should just have a connection to an antenna and H DMI port maybe a Wi-Fi or ethernet connection and that's it slam the H DMI into your TV and you're done most older people don't need all that they have one tv One television antenna like they did when they were growing up make it simple easy-peasy and youou'd sell so many more of these and why not include the storage with the device instead of having to go out and purchase a separate usb hard drive have an expansion USB port but don't make that requirement you're confusing The non Tech people. You'd have a real winner here if you had a more basic version. Good luck to you
