I was almost afraid to put up a shelf on my chimney but you made this look so easy, and it is. Thank you for that.

Thanks dude! Super helpful. Please consider linking things like the anchors in the description and how to select drill bit siz

Thanks! Polished and to the point. And thanks for being a safety advocate! And that vacuum tip is very clever, BTW.

Great video and even better dogs! I tested a #8 plastic anchor with a #9 Simpson forged, exterior screw in a solid brick. I put 182lbs of pull out force on it. Then I removed and replaced the screw and tested 227lbs of pull, and finally to 272lbs of pull out force. It never budged and the brick never cracked. I'm sure the screw's shear strength is considerably more. I think the key is matching the sizes of bit (3/16), anchor (#8), and forged screw (#9). The tungsten carbide bit set was $3 and the bulk anchor set was $2.80 at Harbor Freight. The screws were left-overs from other projects.

Great video!
I have found that having a small cup of water to dip the drill bit in helps the to keep the drill bit cooled off...just to keep from damaging the tip of the bit!

I have to drill the outside bib (spigot) into the outer brick wall. Our builder sub-contracted a plumbing water service guy who did NOT drill the retaining screws into brick. The plumber did drill holes through mortar and brick to place 3 spigots/bibs on the exterior brick walls but used tiny screws with green plastic plugs to hold the bibs in place. Not a good idea. The spigots pull away from the brick wall (with PEX piping attached ) every time the outdoor hose lines receive a slight tug. I purchased 3 bib buddy plates in attempt to re-attach the spigots to the exterior wall. Wish me luck. Enjoy your videos.
