Join us live at 6.00 p.m. (7.30 a.m. in Washington DC) to hear the Diplomatic Editor of The Economist, Anton La Guardia, assess the impact of the FT/WAPO stories on Indo-US relations as well as analyze the emerging tensions in relations between Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joseph Biden. First, have allegations that India could be involved in killing US citizen on US soil raised worrying questions about the Modi government in the White House? Could this affect Congress clearing major defence deals? Could this lead to the US President declining the invitation to be Chief Guest on Republic Day? Second, has Netanyahu ignored Biden’s advice not to respond in rage? Antony Blinken has said far too many Palestinians have been killed in Gaza but Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to continue with the airstrikes after the present four day truce ends. Can America accept Netanyahu’s determination to eradicate Hamas no matter what the toll of Palestinian civilian lives? The US stands for a two-state solution, with Israel out of Gaza and replaced by the Palestine Authority. However, Netanyahu has always opposed a two-state solution, dismisses the PA and, in defiance of America, has said Israel will seek indefinite security control over Gaza. Biden wants Israeli settler violence in the West Bank to cease. Netanyahu claims such accusations are baseless. US media reports say Netanyahu has “angered” the Biden administration. How true is that? Join us live at 6.00 p.m. to hear Anton La Guardia’s answers.
