I love the idea of the 40k setting not being as bad as it is in canon but is just full of otherworldly mild inconveniences. The imperium and Xenos factions are just neighbors that talk smack all the time, servitors are people with free will, they’re just like that, and they all have modern Terran holiday parties. I imagine the chaos gods are just as powerful as they are in canon, but they just act like annoying celebrities and their chaos worshippers are their fans. Meanwhile tyrannids act like a flock of seagulls that gradually increase in numbers and take peoples food, and the marines have to fight them by shooing them away with a broomstick and a spray bottle
