TWSBI Vac-20 Inkwell

If you have a TWSBI Vac-700, then you will be very interested to learn more about the Vac-20 inkwell. It's an ink bottle that screws onto the Vac-700 to make transporting and filling ink a cinch, without making a mess.

I loved watching 👀 this video. Thank you, Brian. I never considered fountain pens 🖊 as a hobby. As a youngster in elementary school, I was taught using fountain pens. Later, we switched to ballpoint pens, which most of your viewers were introduced to in their school days. The filling mechanisms on the fountain pens that I was used to had a lever on the barrel of the pens that depressed a bladder inside the pens causing the ink to be drawn into the pens through the nibs. I never kept a journal. I have, and still do, write letters with my fountain pens. I have found it more difficult these days in obtaining the correct stationary for my letters to my friend'sm. Most of my good friends have passed away, however, I still write to one dear friend. She will turn 102 years old this coming Spring. And so, as you would say, Brian, "WRITE ON"!

Yes, I spilled ink too the first time I used it - with the mini vac there are 3 caps that need to be screwed on snugly! After I understood that, I really like this little tool!

Tip: I kept the little TWSBI cardboard box the Vac-20 comes in. This makes it easier to pack and take with you on an adventure.

I recently bought a Vac-20A which seems to be the same as this, but with an extra adaptor at the neck for use with the vac mini. As I only have a mini and (so far) I don't have a vac-700r this is a great idea.

I haven't read these, but on FPN folks recommend: Write Now: a complete self-teaching program for better handwriting, Italic Calligraphy & Handwriting: Exercises and Text, Handwriting for Today, and The Art of Calligraphy: A practical guide., among others. My favorite pens for beginners are the Pilot Metropolitan, Lamy Safari, and Platinum Preppy.

I did the same thing the first time I used it! You have to tighten the cap more, so it won't spew out like that.

I'm still amazed that you don't have to wipe the nib section after filling the pen using the VAC system. I can't wrap my head around it. I'm contemplating getting this inkwell if it's truly mess free.

The vacuum is formed behind the piston as it's pressed down and at the bottom the seal is broken allowing the ink to be drawn up into the pen.

I bought this handy little ink bottle from Goulet because I have two Vac 700 (too bad they've been discontinued) and mine came with a mid section that allows the Vac Mini use of this as well, but neither sections work with the Eco. I don't know about the 580 because I don't have one.

Question: Does it (20 ml TWSBI Inkwell) also work with the normal TWSBI Mini (not the Vacuum model)?

For me working: I don't have to clean the gripsection after it. Cleaning the nib is what you always have to do.
