When I went to Okinawa in 2019, the teacher I trained with refused to take payment from me. He told me to use my money to go drinking instead. 😂😂

I speak absolutely no Japanese and I have no karate experience, but I would still like to try Karate in Okinawa. Thanks for making this video, it really did help me a lot.

I visited Okinawa in 2019 to train and had a great time. Great people and good times at the Dojo bar. Looking forward to when we can freely travel again and get back there. As always thanks for sharing Jesse.

My children have the very good fortune of learning Goju Ryu from their sensei who lived and studied in Okinawa for many years. We love her so much!

I want to visit Okinawa (and Japan!) So badly! Me and the Girlfriend are saving for it currently. Visiting and training would be AMAZING

And eating my bodyweight in Sushi and Sashimi.

Love your Okinawa series by the way. I hope someday we can get more of Jesse in Japan.

Also if your training at a legitimate karate dojo, you should be hearing a lot of these common Japanese phrases. When I was child studying in the states Matsubayashi Ryu the Sensei insisted we learn these phrases with no regard that we would ever go to Okinawa. Rather, I think it was to honor tradition and heritage. Sensei Lorhding was a great teacher and I wish, as an older man now, I could thank him for everything he taught me that I didn't understand then but deeply value now.

To approach any sensei in any country is very humble...and try to learn from them....as much as you can....share that knowledge with your students...karate are very privileged to have many strong roots...oss.

My friends were planning on going to Japan before the pandemic as a sort of honeymoon, looks like I'm going to have to weasel my way onto the trip

I’ve studied Isshinryu since 1998 and RyuKonKai since 2018. I’d be so honored to get to study either while I’m there.

Thank you very much Jesse I just had my black belt exam in August but one of my dreams is to visit the place of origin of karate and train with the great masters and learn traditional techniques and ancient katas.
