It’s missing the ring which is always possible with A. Phalloides. As others have said the striations on the cap indicate it’s a different amanita species. The volva is pronounced enough to where I would guess calyptroderma where the patch just didn’t stay on top. Personally I’d pass on this one 😂

Definitely not a death cap, this is Amanita Fulva, aka Tawny Grisette, distinguished by grooves round the edge of the cap and brown colour, a death cap would have no grooves and would be more olive green in colour

That's a Tawny Grisette; same genus as the Death Cap, but a different species.
(Amanita Fulva instead of Amanita Phalloides)
These are actually perfectly edible :)

What you did is still the best choice.
When you're unsure about a mushroom, you *don't* eat it.

the death cap is not "one of the deadliest mushrooms in the UK", it is the deadliest mushroom in the world

DEFINITELY not a death cap. Amanita fulva as said below. See the striate margin at 0:46? Death caps do not have this, and this feature is very pronounced in A. fulva. Also A.phalloides is much more olivaceous than brown.

As others have said, I reckon it's a tawny grisette. Edible, but why would you risk it if you're not absolutely sure? If in doubt, leave it out.

That is the death cap.. though their usually is a ring under the cap.. it has the vulva which also tells me it is a death cap.. can have either olive green or brown cap..

I think I ate some a few hours ago.

If I reply then I suppose I got lucky and it wasn't...
