Docs. Thank you for the information. I am conservative as well. My surgeon want to send me home with nobody there I am having hip surgery. i had appendectomy surgery and still have stitches...my doctor will remove stitches on Tuesday...but i want to ask
1- Can i take shower before stitches removed?
2- how long should i wait to take shower after removing stitches?

Seems I can live without a shower for up to a week.Spent some time in the army and a hot shower was golden but in the bush other things are on the mind. I have a shower vinyl boot for my upcoming TKR. Thanks Docs

Get a seat for the shower/tub. Life saver. Not sure if a seat would be beneficial to hip patients though, no life experience with that one.

I have a good topic for you. My TKR got delayed because I failed the EKG and stress test. Now we are looking at doing a cath to see if there is an obstruction. If I have to have a stent, there will be a delay in surgery due to blood thinners that are required. If a coated stent is used, I will be on blood thinners for 12 months, if uncoated, 1 month. Of course I prefer the uncoated so I can get on with my TKR. But the uncoated may not be the best device for the obstruction. What has been your experience is situations like this? Can the cardiologist and surgeon agree to the elimination of blood thinner for one week in order to do the surgery? Or must the patient suffer another year without the TKR? Of course, the bottom line is that no joint is required if you don't survive the surgery or your heart fails you!!!

I was showering nine days post rotator cuff/bicep tendon surgery and after an extremely stressful event that culminated with me having to choose to put my beloved doggo to sleep. I got out of the shower and couldn’t get into my sling fast enough. I sat down on a kitchen chair and passed out for about five minutes. My partner took me right to the ER and after a full work I was discharged with a diagnosis of stress and near syncope. It was scary and I’m trying to get enough fluids, if nothing else. Make sure someone you trust is close by when you’re showering after surgery. ❤

And, for what it’s worth, I found the most amazing Nexcare with Tegaderm bandages that have a fantastic waterproof seal.

Just had a double surgery and they wont let me shower for 2 weeks ugh. All I can do is wipe with a wet cloth.

I am not entirely bone on bone on my knee but my worry is that arthritis in my knee won’t let me straighten it (permanently bent) and that I walk crooked. I am so afraid of danger to my hip because of it. Can it ever be straightened short of replacement?

Hi doc may i ask if i can take a bath properly after 15 days of pelvic lap. Surgery ? Cause my mom always told me to put plastic on my waist and cover it properly so the water couldnt pass through my wound . But it so sucks i can take a a proper bath because my waist are covered with plastic .
