Going tomorrow for a total reverse shoulder surgery. Appreciate this! Thank you for having a sense of humor as well! I'm a wreck and humor eases my tension for sure. I hope my surgeon and his team have a sense of humor and crank the music at least until I'm knocked out lol!!!

Thank you so much for this video. I just had an open abdomen surgery and is freaked out at so many levels. So really appreciate this information and the nice way in which it was presented .

Since this video is 4 years ago, I would imagine you use glue now. That's how my hip incision was closed in 2023. The wound covering was waterproof, so I could shower right away. Thanks for the info!

I got operated for ruptured appendix. Got discharged yesterday and showered today. I almost went crazy when my dressing got wet. Google and youtube sure is a blessing.

Stay safe Doctors and thank you so much for so informative vlogs. I was scheduled for knee replacement in few days but postponed for now but I was so very ready after watching your videos. Once again thank you to you both and every first responder

After hardware removal I was instructed that it was OK to shower 48 hours post op. Remove the dressing, shower, then replace with clean dressing. The only thing I wish I was prepared for was that the dressing was stuck to my ankle which made the removal a bit uncomfortable. I doused the dressing with peroxide to help loosen it which did help.

You 2 are so cute! I wish you were my surgeons. I'm having a complete knee replacement in about 2 weeks and I'm very scared. Afraid of the pain. However I've been in pain for years, walk with a cane or walker. I have a high pain tolerance so hope that helps. Thanks for all the info. (Yes, Canada is cold, and I live in a small village and have to fly to get to my hospital. Hope I won't have trouble getting home.)

Until you can shower, use baby wipes so you can freshen up. Dry shampoo works, but you may want to go to a barber or salon just to get your hair washed.
Once you can shower, use a shower chair until you are sure you can stand steady that long.

Nice to see you guys getting on with business as usual. I am imagining that elective surgery is getting postponed these days. I was told that Princess Margaret closed its Emerg to walk ins more than a week ago.
Stay safe, Docs!

Thanks for the timely info! Just had major shoulder surgery and took my first post procedure shower today. After taking off the bulky bandages, I covered each suture site with these crazy good waterproof Nexcare bandages. They worked great! So much so that I decided to leave them on (rather than replace them with fresh bandages after showing). I just wish I had put a touch of Vaseline or CeraVE healing ointment on them first. I will when I replace them. New subscriber here! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us! ❤

I was just told no shower for 2 weeks after anterior hip replacement. 😬 I’m REALLY glad we have a bidet.

Good info to have on video. It's so easy to forget this stuff after surgery and then you can't find your discharge papers with the instructions or get through to the nurse, etc. Cute snowman surgical cap, cute everything. 🤍

YouTube is great but please ask YOUR surgeon if you have questions or concerns about your wound care.
