Melissa I challenge you to read Ladies of the club. It is about best friends who are graduating college and then it follows their families till hey are old. Through their eyes you see tons of US history. It’s set in Ohio. I’ve read it twice and ready for a reread. What do you say in a few months or so?

I commend you for committing to long books.( dedication helps me get thru a long read when I get disinterested; sometimes I want to just brag to friends I've read it lol.( I believe age, experience and patience and general thirst for knowledge in general contributes to ability to get through long books, esp. books that use archaic/ intricate language( Victorian usage esp).I've read 8 of the 10 on your list.May I suggest Moby Dick as your next long read.Love of language in all it's diversity helps to( I was a college English/ education major, enjoyed Romance languages and history too)and advanced reader as a kid)

Loved this video! I have Forever Amber and ...And the Ladies of the Club on my TBR shelf! My daughter in law read "Ladies" really enjoyed it and gave me her copy. Can't wait to read them both!

Forever Amber is my favourite ever historic fiction. It's shockingly underrated. Such an adventure ahhhh. I adore it. Have you read it yet? One I love equally to Forever Amber is the Bronze Horseman series by Paulina Simons (also very long books). I try to read Amber at least once a year in May but I'm trying to read other books so haven't read it this year hehe.

I love BIG books, as well! You have some great books there and Forever Amber is one of my favorites. The ending is delicious; I hope you get to it soon. Enjoy!!

I think back in the day, I might of read The Wheel of Fortune and Ladies of the club,
can't remember, but those were the kinds of books I read when I was younger.
Sometimes when the book is good, you don't realize how long it is.
I like when its filled with multi generation of families.

Also, not knowing you knew this or not, but Colleen McCullough's First Man in Rome... SHE drew all the portraits, just as she drew out ALL the maps. I've yet to finish the series, getting thru both First Man... and The Grass Crown. I know there's more... 😉

I have always been afraid and intimidated by books over 400 PGS! But I have recently been reading longer books and I definitely can see the appeal in that you are really living in the novel since it takes longer and obviously has more detail. Currently reading the first Outlander...I am pretty sure it will be the longest book I have every read when I am done...and it isn't even that long compared to some of the ones you are showing in this video! 😂
