This is amazing, and extremely funny. But also deeply troubling and scary to think about the long-term consequences of next generations not developing properly due to the abuse of Amphetamines.

Being married to JBP must be like being in a psychology experiment all the time.

Reminds me of watching my first two ferrets play.

Joey had been neglected to the point of almost dying, but due to his miraculous personality had been able to recover and become a rambunctious lover of play and trouble making while remaining really sweet and gentle. Snoop hadn't been as badly neglected, but had only had another ferret to play with, which when he died had left her alone until my family got her. Worse, she had a very reserved, shy and frightful personality so she remained very cautious for about two years after we got her.

Joey took one look at her and realized we'd got him a buddy, and so began following her around watching her trying to show her he was open to play but she'd just sneak around the house running from hiding place to hide place while being befuddled as to why he was following her. The was Joey eventually got tired of her shyness and wanted a playmate, that resulted in him harassing her good naturedly to get her worked up enough to fight back, but the crown event of their play was when I'd get him, roll him on his back and then place her in his arms for him to pin her down and grab her by the scruff for about half a minute until he'd let her go and then run around hissing with joy as she'd chase him around headbutting him and doing her best to attack him without really attacking him. It got to the point where Joey knew what I was doing when I'd flip him on his back he'd already get his front paws open and ready to grab her and start the fun.

Eventually she did adjust, a visit to our cousins scared the crap out of her and the only thing she had from home to look for safety was Joey alongside her in their cage so he quickly became her full big brother that she look to for protection as they soon began to both seek each other out to play, or her to follow him around and watch him do bad things like his love of trying to get by our barriers on the indoor plant pots to worm in and dig the dirt all over the carpet, which he knew pushed our buttons.

If more children engaged in physical play, would fewer children end up with"mental health disorders"?

I am so glad that I kept my kids homeschooled so they could play more. We work hard to be properly educated and disciplined too but I have always felt that kids need more time to play until they are 8 at least than to worry about grades, tests etc.

Hey. I Just wanted to note something:
I have ADD and started with ritalin when i was about 10.
I was still a very playful kid, even with ritalin, but I could focus much better and school was much more doable for me.
Over medicating is bad, but it did really help me. (I'm 24 now and when i was 20, they also discovered i have autism. for what it's worth)

Play is the mechanism by which complex knowledge get transferred and stored in creatures. without play you stop in a sense living (or literally if you are a baby).

The school I work in is currently in the process of becoming a ‘Trauma and Mental Health Informed School’. The whole thing is unpinned with Panksepp’s work so it’s really reassuring to know that Peterson approves.
