I wrote this song in honor of the two guys I knew that left this world too soon. My goal in writing this song is to bring awareness to the mental health crisis among men in hopes that we change our perception of how they should act and feel in society.

There’s something awful about the way that some men are and were raised in this world. We’re taught by family and friends to be tough, to suppress our emotions, and to be self-reliant. As a result, we shy away from seeking help when we need it.

In my 30-ish years of being alive, one thing I’ve learned is that life gets tough for everyone at some point. If you don’t know how to be vulnerable and where to get help, you become trapped in your thoughts. Some of us feel so trapped that we feel like leaving this world will be our only relief. There was a time in my life when I felt like that. I had to move mountains to get to a place of happiness again, and I feel so lucky that I had a good support system. Others aren’t as lucky as I am.

I’m listing mental health resources for any of you guys (and gals) who are going through a tough time right now in the US. Your own states and countries may have similar resources. Check online to find them!

Thank you guys for listening to this song. I love you and want you to know that you all are precious beings in this world. ❤️

Lyrics:

When he turned ten his dad turned cold
Wouldn’t hug him anymore
‘Cause real men learn not to feel pain
His father raised him just the same

Now he spends his time alone
Sitting on his frozen throne
Too afraid to say he’s cold
No one will ever know

Sad boys don’t go to heaven
They don’t stick around for long enough
To see what could’ve happened
If someone told them that they were loved

Boys are tough
Boys are brave
But know for them there’s hell to pay
Then one by one forgotten
Sad boys don’t go to heaven no

When he turned twenty he met a girl
Pockets bare but gave her the world
But she had diamonds on her mind
Left him in the dead of night

Friends would tease him when he cried
In no one could he confide
Prayed to god he’d find the light
To guide him through the night

But sad boys don’t go to heaven
They go places where there’s drinks and drugs
To see what they’ve been missing
Before all is said and all is done

Made your jokes
It’s too late
He’ll never see those pearly gates
Then one by one forgotten
Sad boys don’t go to heaven no

Sad boys don’t go to heaven no

When he turned thirty he was tired
Dead end job, barely surviving
Father calls to ask him why
He made such a mess of his life

He screams and slams the telephone
The final straw had to be pulled
He once was taught that boys don’t cry
But never realized

That sad boys don’t go to heaven
They don’t stick around for long enough
To see what could’ve happened
If someone told them that they were loved

Boys are tough
Boys are brave
Until they make their great escape
Then one by one forgotten
Sad boys don’t go to heaven no

Sad boys don’t go to heaven no
Sad boys don’t go to heaven

Boys are tough
Boys are brave
Until they make their great escape
Then one by one forgotten
Sad boys don’t go to heaven

Please check on your guy friends bc a lot of them are still struggling to embrace our emotions and unlearn unhelpful lessons. 🥺 Links to mental health resources (for the US) in the description box. A lot of other states and countries have similar resources, so don’t hesitate to check online.

For those of you who feel like no one cares about you - I CARE. I love you all so much. Happiness is never guaranteed for any of us, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Give yourselves time and you might find it. ❤️🌹

80% of Latin America was educated with that mentality and I admit that it is hard at times not to find someone who can listen to you or who you can vent with and swallow all that pain.

Im a grown woman but i was raised as a boy essentially. I was smacked and verbally abused if i cried or showed any emotion that wasn't anger. It definitely fucked me up and yes in some ways made me strong, but as a very emotional and highly empathetic person, it still makes it hard to realize my feelings are ok.

As an older sister of 3 brothers, I’m making sure they don’t ever think or feel that way, I don’t want them to think that because of their gender they can’t show emotions. This song is so beautiful and full of meaning, keep doing such inspiring and amazing masterpieces ❤️

Conocí a Rosendale por The king y de ahí le seguí escuchando, es sin duda uno de los artistas más infravalorados que hay

My boyfriend refuses to cry and talk about his problems, but I'm here to remind him that he can cry with me. Men's mental health matter too ❤️

I really hate those fathers ( or mothers ) who force their sons to be tough and repress his emotions, why don't they understand that boys we're humans not robots withouts feelings, I'd really want to make this people paid, cuz they're just hurting them with their mean and toxic words, I don't care if you guys cancel me for saying this but yes, sad boys can go to heaven, cuz it means that they're good and pure hearted, cry isn't bad, but teaching boys to repress his sadness, yes it is, and I don't care if you guys don't agree with me but I had to say it, sorry not sorry :b

BTW : Great job Rosendale, stunning as always, keep it up .
