Battle of Ankara -- Did you know?

Did you know that the Battle of Ankara in1402 resulted in the capture ofthe Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I by the forces of Timur, the emir of the Timurid Empire? This victory fo Timur led to the Ottoman Interregnum, a period of civil war among Bayezid's sons that lasted for 11 years. The battle was catastrophic for the Ottoman state, causing the empire to fracture and almost colapse entirely. It is noteworthy as the only time in history that a Sultan was captured inperson.
