Hi and welcome back to my kitchen. Cupcakes are so much fun to make but if you're new to making cupcakes it can be hard to know where to start. I get asked so many questions about my cupcakes so in this weeks video I go through tips and techniques for making and piping the perfect cupcake from start to finish.

Find out about working with your cake mixture, what cases to use, how to stop cupcake cases going greasy, how to stop your cupcake cases peeling away. The best piping nozzle to use if you're a beginner and how to pipe a classic buttercream swirl and rossette on the top of your cupcakes.

★ Vanilla Cupcake Recipe:
This will make 12 vanilla cupcakes:
7oz/ 200g – Self Raising Flour
7oz/ 200g – Butter
7oz/ 200g – Caster Sugar
2 eggs
1tbsp – Vanilla Essence / Flavouring
2tbsp – Milk

Combine these for around 30 seconds or until all the ingredients are mixed through. Divide it between your cakes and bake these at 180 degrees Celsius on a normal oven setting for 23 - 25 minutes, until they are golden brown.

To make my American buttercream you will need:
12oz / 340g - Icing Sugar
6oz/ 170g  - Room Temperature Salted Butter
1.5 tbsp - Milk
1 tbsp - Vanilla Favouring (or favouring of your choice)

HI Lynz, this video is fab! Please could you do a basics of working with fondant video, like how to get balls of fondant with no cracks, how to place fondant you've cut out on your cake without it stretching out of shape, how to get straight clean cut lines on your cake, how to get rid of white marks caused by cornflour when rolling it/cutting it out, that sort of thing? Thanks for all the videos, your cakes are amazing!!

Thanks! My teacher said we are doing DT(design technology)and he said we are making cupcakes! My sister only showed me how to make them but I didn't like them much

The rosette swirls are so cool! I want to try it sometime. ( The rosette swirls I've tried the other one HEAPS of time's.) I wonder how my cupcakes will look like once I make them. I have a pretty basic cupcake vanilla recipe, and I know how to make strawberry icing. ( Not that it has to be specifically strawberry icing ) but other colours of icing would be cool as well!

Hi Lynz, Oh WOW I have made your cupcakes and they are AMAZING.... I have never made them before, But with your recipe I have made 3 lots now. Just trying to brave it to make the Icing to decorate. I have everything for decorating them just need to find the courage to have a go at piping them. Love your video's.
