Ultimate Guide to Roti

Roti is the classic flatbread. It's super versatile and simple to make. But if I must say, I'd choose naan or paratha over roti lol.

**GIVEAWAY RULES: somewhere in this video, I used a word to describe Pakistani cuisine. To enter, comment that word. If correct, you'll win an Amazon gift card. If more than one person gets it correct, I'll choose a random person from those that got it correct.**

I've been making roti for the past couple of months and these are the tips I think beginners often forget. Use lukewarm water not room temperature because the dough doesn't knead as good, knead the dough for at least 10min and no less, if the dough is too wet/sticky while kneading add a little more flour to adjust the consistency. Good food doesn't have shortcuts. Thanks for this video! I love it when you cook w/ Mama! 😊

Since everyone guessed eyeballed I'm going to guess "tava" as it is the cornerstone of Indian and Pakistani cuisine. My mom makes chappathis every day so I can totally relate to the special touch in every mother's cooking😊

I’ve been making roti for a long time. It was something my dad wanted me to know how to do, but I couldn’t get them round. So my dad bought me a plant stand to use as a template to guide me when rolling out the roti- I literally rolled roti out on the plant stand lol. Now I make 6 rotis in 8 minute.
My Nana made a tava by hand and it weighed like 50lbs. Mom stopped using it but uses a pancake pan instead. Any nonstick tava works.

My roti story
A while back, I was doing an observership at some hospital where I met the nicest pakistani doctor. One day I was doing clinic with him and before clinic, he quickly ran to his house and got me lunch. He insisted I ate before it got cold. Lunch was delicious and included roti, it was my first time trying it. Will never forget how kind he was.
Also auntie is a pro!

The amount of work your mum put in kneading the dough. Damn!! I was literally laughing thinking how my mum just kneads the dough for 3 people within 5 mins, she rests it for 15-20 mins and is good to go. And in my entire relative clan i feel my mum's roti is the best😂. However our rotiis are lil smaller than yours. But hey i learned more about it. Now i will give it a try. Especially the part where your mum takes the ball and flattens it into disc using the hands. ❤❤

He says the correct way to eat roti, breaking to small pieces and scoop with what you want to eat it with. Naan is also eaten the same way. But most foreign youtubers when try naan they eat it separately. I know they have never seen the correct way. But still it feels a little awkward. I hope they watch this vdo😄

EYEBALLED. Our cuisine is all about food made by Moms and Grandmothers and I've never seen my mom/grandma use measurements, even for cakes haha. I love it that you're finally uploading full length recipe videos. ❤️ I've been a fan since you first started uploading on YouTube. Love all the way from India ❤️❤️

I know you said 1 word, so I say it's "eye-balled". But tbh "practice makes perfect" is a perfect phrase for Pakistani btw and ur videos are lip smackingly mom's cooking is just like eating roti more than anything, even though mostly it doesn't have a very particular taste (but it does). It just pairs gr8 with everything.🥰🥰probably the most eaten food in my
