Simagic GT Neo Wheel Review - High End Features for £300

The Simagic GT Neo steering wheel is responsible for my interest in Simagic. Before this appeared, I didn't give too much thought to them, but with the arrival of this £300 wheel, their line-up looks SO much more appealing to the mid-end customer. There are so many things the GT Neo does which I simply wouldn't expect for the cost.

In this review I show you my thoughts during my short, but impressive, time with the GT Neo so far. Time will tell how long the honeymoon period lasts.

You are the first reviewer (of anything) that I can recall that encouraged the viewer to check local prices and distributors, and explained that the affiliate links, while they help the channel, might not be the least expensive; THANK YOU for the transparency! Being that I'm watching from Canada, all the European partnerships don't always make sense for me, and it was so refreshing to see you acknowledge that. In fairness, Boosted Media also suggests the viewer check out local distributors, so I guess you are the second reviewer... but still, thank you!

Guess it doesn't hurt to leave my user experience.

Owned the wheel since the first week of February, so nearly 8mo now.

Very happy with the wheel. I used it consistently for the duration I've had it, and there's no complaints from my side. It feels good in the hand when wearing gloves (I always have, as hands tend to get sweaty during longer sessions) and my grips have only worn ever so slightly on the back, where your index finger rests. Besides that the grips are in great condition.

Buttons are amazing. The 4 center ones are plastic but it's not really something you feel when wearing gloves. They have enough resistance to rotate them 1 click.

Thumb rotaries are a different story (for me) because I sometimes touch them in sharp corners like the Busstop or La Source at Spa Francorchamps. It doesn't happen often, and only seems to happen to me as my friends who own the wheel also, don't have the issue. Let's put it down to big hands.

All in all you get way more value for money than any wheel on the market.

I would 100% recommend this wheel to anyone considering the wheel. It's simply lovely

Have had the GT Neo for over a month now with a few hours use per week and no issues with the grip wear with or without gloves, at least not yet. I use it on a Simucube 1 with the large Mige motor (28Nm) and so far so good. Best value wheel rim I’ve ever had!

Great review Danny. Perfectly researched by including the reddit posts about the tear on the grips. This goes way deeper than those videos that just read through the specs on the manufacturers website. I own this wheel and fully stand behind your review. It's perfect apart from the grips, as mine do show some wear after only a month of usage with grippy gloves on a high torque wheelbase. This is important to know for potential buyers. Keep up this level of detail in your videos and you are going to grow great reputation!

I bought a GT Neo over a KS shortly after it's release, and happily haven't had any quality issues, and have loved tinkering and playing with it

The SIMAGIC GT-NEO steering wheel does excel in simulating driving, but I encountered some troubles during use. Firstly, its weight and size, while not an issue for players who prioritize realism, did bring quite a bit of inconvenience for users like me who need to frequently move their equipment. Furthermore, I found that the steering wheel had greater resistance when turning at certain specific angles, which somewhat affected the smoothness of my operations. I hope that SIMAGIC can further optimize these issues in future products to enhance the user experience.

I've had one for four months and I'm very satisfied. Maybe the grip will be a problem in the future but I only use it with gloves. Thanks for the reivew and the content you create.

Great video! B-roll shots are beautiful. I also really appreciated your note about the packaging and stickers. I had that same feeling when unboxing mine. And like you, the Neo convinced me to give Simagic a serious look.

Reporting that my Neo looks and feels great after 4 months. No gloves, no issues with the grips. I came from a T300 so everything about the Neo is an upgrade. Take my review with a grain of salt.

Great honest review. I'm about to embark on my first venture in to DD world and after weeks of research decided to go with the alpha mini and GT neo along with the p1000 pedals. I was going to get the GTS wheel but I've heard so many good things about the GT Neo and tbh 95% of what I drive is always GT cars, it's the most fun for me, so it just makes sense to get the GT Neo first and GTS round wheel later on. To say I'm excited is an understatement! And I totally agree, I would happily pay $20-30 more if it had better and more durable/comfortable grips. It's only let down but I don't drive with gloves so hopefully it'll hold up okay

Danny, I'd love to see you put out your top picks for entry, mid and top level gear. As someone looking to upgrade, I'd love to see a video about the best kit out there for each budget. Pedals, wheel and base

I commented that this was the best sub-$500 wheel on a previous review of yours some time back.

Glad you had a chance to review and appreciate it.

I’ve had it for a couple of months now, really enjoy it. The only issue i have, i use gloves & use about 10nm of strength in porsche cup cars, 7-8 with gt3 cars & i get a bit of hand pain especially on my left hand. I’ve seen a lot of people wrap the grips to create a little bit of more width for a bit more comfort, just not committed to that yet. Otherwise, for the money, there is nothing better.

I personally prefer that the grips are a bit of a harder material. I like the more direct feel I have of the force feedback, and the lack of mushiness I get when gripping the wheel with softer grips. Especially with the way they’re molded, I really don’t find any discomfort when using this wheel for long durations.

I have it, and I love it. Great wheel for the price.

CONSPIT’s Ares base is the definition of 'affordable high performance.' It feels incredibly refined, the force feedback is powerful yet precise, and it holds up well against the Simucube. If you want a DD base that won’t break the bank but still competes with the best, look no further!

Great video as always Danny. Love this wheel, I own a lot of wheels (which I need for my pineapplegrips business) but the Simagic Neo is my daily driver. Fantastic wheel for the price and here it comes…BUT, mine too has recently succumbed to the grip surface starting to fall apart 😩

I've had my Neo since launch on my alpha mini, full ffb, gloves, and have had no issues. Granted I don't race as much as I use to (only a 2-5 hrs a week) and I use gloves so I won't be the best data point. I've also haven't ever used it without gloves for a longer session so I can't comment on comfort gloveless. I've been loving it though. Don't plan on replacing it. If the grips wear down eventually, I imagine I'll be able to wrap it with something.
