John, you are my brother from another for sure. Nothing OCD about having a perfectly matching, tidy and colour co-ordinated closet. Your videos are truly inspirational and I am such a fan of your work and your ethos on style, sophistication and yet the simplicity of what you are doing too. Keep it up Mr. Best Beau

I agree with how you organize your wardrobe. For me, it is easier to find the clothes I plan on wearing plus the more I hung them nicely, the more less wrinkle the clothes get. This saves me time from ironing. Thank you for sharing the video, John. Have a good weekend.

John, great video. With reference to your OCD I'm right there with your brother. The only difference in your V hacks and the way I organize my closet is that my pants hang from the ankles on wooden clamp hangers. This allows me to get multiple wears by allowing the weight of the pants to pull out any wrinkles. The clamp hangers also allow with adequate height in your closet for the bulk to be at the bottom thereby giving more room at the top between the hangers. Keep up the great work and I look forward to more in the future..

I’ve used wood hangers for years, so nice to use, I’ve always closed the buttons on my shirts and polos, keep the shape crisp, and from long to short sleeves then polos then T-shirts and in colour going from Black all the way to white. Great vid !

No it's not OCD I also put all my clothes faceing the same way.

👍 the vid. Keeping shirts facing one way makes you feel like you're shopping, therefore making the "choosing" more fun.

Hi John. My wardrobe is a tidy and organised space. It’s important to know what I have and where it is. I even keep my shoes in their boxes to keep the clean, free from damage and together. It’s not about OCD in my opinion. It’s about being ready.

Many of my shirts (not trousers) come from charity shops from the more “affluent” neighbourhoods, you get top quality, all top brands, at seriously low cost. If then you wash and press them and treat them right and yes my wardrobe is sorted exactly like yours John. So all my hangers are wooden same type, and they all hang the same way, colour coded, divided short and long sleeves, but second button done up not top. I now have a fabulous huge array of barely worn shirts (I am quite choosy they must be almost perfect) many in fact came this way still new with tags on which will serve me for a long time. Look after your clothes and they will look after you. Top quality wardrobe at I reckon 15-20% of the original label

I definitely keep all of the hangers facing the same way - seems more organized, but most importantly, the wood hangers I use, have a slight bow to them (mimicking the natural shoulder posture) which seem to naturally set up for having them all face the same way. Loved the closet tips and love the channel!

Great video. I follow most of your habits in the closet with just a couple of exceptions. I use adjustable plastic hangers because I wear 48-50 sized suits and shirts with 18-19 necks so I can make the shoulder bars as wide as necessary to stop the shoulder bump. Also, after i wear a shirt once, maybe for only a short time and I make the determination that I can wear it again before it needs washing, I put it back on the hanger but turn the hanger and put it backwards on the pole. This lets me know which shirt has at least one more wear in it. Again, all color groups together facing the same directions. Love that OCD and your ideas.

I keep my shirts facing to the same side too :) and I agree with all your tips. Thanks.

I almost do everything like you suggested. The exceptions are I use wooden hangers for my pants as well. I have my dress shirts at the far end of my closet but I don't break it down by color. Thank you for sharing your suggestions!

RE: Tip #4; shirts facing same way. Yes, this IS a good idea, and not just your own personal tick. When I'm getting up early and it's dark out, and I don't want to turn on the room lights to wake anyone else, I can just reach in, grab a shirt, and not worry about which direction it's turned. Just one more way of making closet access frictionless.

John, informative vlog yet again. I wouldn't call it OCD, just being organised. Like you, hang my shirts same, colour coordinated and do up top button. I also place them in striped and checked within colour. Sure there are plenty others like us. Look forward to the next one.

I do a lot of the same things you do so I'm part of the OCD crew checking in. I keep shirts facing the same way. Pants too. Due to lack of closet space I use closet space savers . I can hang five shirts on one saver and then drop one end down so I have more room. I found something similar for pants awhile back in a catalog. I got two of them. They each hold 10 pairs of pants .Five on each side. The pants fit over rods that swivel out for easy removal and then snap back into place. They also have clips that go over the pants to keep them in place while on the rods. I highly recommend them.

Hello John. I always like your videos. They are very informative and clear. I am glad you did this video about organizing the closet and the wood hangers. I do hang my shirts facing the same direction and button them 4 times, collar and the next 3 buttons, to keep the shape.
Thank you for the videos. They are wonderful!
