On Wednesday, Ohio Senator JD Vance formally accepted the GOP Vice Presidential nomination, coming on Day 3 of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Former President Donald Trump, who's been seen wearing a bandage on his right ear following an assassination attempt during a weekend rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, announced the pick earlier this week. Introduced by his wife, Usha Vance, the 39-year-old detailed his own life story and said, "Tonight is a night of hope. A celebration of what America once was, and with God’s grace, what it will soon be again." His speech comes on the same day that President Biden's campaign said Vice President Harris accepted a date of August 12th for a debate with Vance on CBS. The Trump campaign would not commit.

I will offer this FACT...as I lived through that time and worked in American Manufacturing and Design. When it came to exporting a multitude of good manufacturing jobs out of America, through the disastrous NAFTA policy...BOTH Democrats and Republicans were GUILTY of supporting that. Then President, Ronald Reagan, was as much a promoter of NAFTA as anyone, although it still had not become Law by the time Reagan left Office. NAFTA became Law when the later Democrat President, Bill Clinton, signed it into Law.
Ross Perot was absolutely correct that NAFTA was going to DESTROY many American manufacturing jobs, and I voted for him. The NAFTA debacle happened with both Democrat and Republican support. It is also true that President Donald Trump was the ONLY President since that wanted to re-work NAFTA to make it much more fair to American workers. He achieved some measure of success in re-structuring NAFTA policy to be more fair for America's interests, but was not able to get everything he wanted. Hopefully in a second Term he could do more.
