The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) Pediatric Vascular Surgery Task Force hosted a Pediatric Vascular Surgery Development Group meeting to address Arterial Thrombosis in Children.
This case-based session, led by an expert panel that included pediatric surgery, pediatric hematology, and vascular surgery, covered trauma, catheter-induced arterial injury, compressive syndromes, and more.
Session Objectives:
- Improved understanding of the etiologies of provoked and spontaneous arterial thrombosis in pediatric patients
- Improved understanding of treatment strategies for thrombosis, including anticoagulation/lytic therapies, endovascular approaches, and open approaches
- Improved understanding of post-treatment management, including anticoagulation, imaging, and long-term follow-up
