The Kawasaki sounds like a better bike over all mainly because of the adjustable suspension... but both need to option a larger gas tank on all models like the Honda Rally (3.4 gal) that extra gallon+ would make a huge difference out in the middle of nowhere!

Picked up my KLX 300 yesterday. First dual sport and I'm in love lol

No ABS on the KLX300, thankfully. I picked mine up (Gorgeous Kawasaki Lime Green!) this past week. No vibes coming through the bars, even at 50-60+ mph. I’ll be able to open it up now that I’ve gotten some miles on the bike. Yoshimura fender eliminator showed up today and a Ricochet skid plate.
I’m digging this thumper, sitting beside my KLR 650.

We may be waiting longer than expected. Just received. Message from my dealer. Their CRF300L order was just canceled. I haven’t heard back why yet, just that the order is cancelled, and the dealer does not expect any 300’s. Guess it’s time to take another look at team I look so good in red:)

funny seeing people react to 20 degrees. It was 31 degrees below zero where I live when they shut off my power without warning to help you guys out down south.

Something to maybe keep in mind. If you are stock bike kinda guy, then either one will serve you well. If you are an add-on kinda guy, there are way more options for the Honda than the Kawasaki. Several larger tanks for the Honda. I think I was able to find one larger tank for the Kawasaki and that was only like a half gallon bigger. Racks, guards, skid plates. which a lot will fit the Honda 300 as well as the 250. Just something to keep in mind. Look around, check out the add-ons for both and see if they work for you. Just a thought.

I pulled the owners manuals on each. Short story. What’s more important to you. If your over 175lbs the CRF will need about $500-1000 (parts &labor) to upgrade suspension. But it’s gear ratio are much better. Other option is get the KLX and change sprockets. Much less expensive fix. CRF has shorter 1, 2&3 and a longer 6th; thus better low end and top end. But KLX wins on frame, brakes and suspension. Both will be excellent.

I drive myself crazy trying to weigh in the options of each of these, as they’re both really great bikes, but I keep the reservation that I’m going to wait for Yamaha to rise to the occasion and blow them both out the door with their updated WR 300/400ish version ?

I ordered the CRF 300L. Because I only ride Honda. But the kLX 300 bike was nice as well.

Great Video! I just ordered the Honda CRF300L. Came down to personal preference for me as a long time XR owner and also the Slipper Clutch, (Senior rider here). I'll no doubt be upgrading the suspension!

I'm a little north in Denison and the Versys 300X probably gonna set another 9 days. Me too.

I would probably go with the Honda CRF300L Rally Edition. Only because I have to put in over an hour on the highway to get to the good dirt roads.

I just got my 2021 KLX 300 in Camo! I agree you can't go wrong with either bike. The Honda has some advantages: gear indicator, possibly a slightly more powerful motor, ABS, and its also a bit more "modern" than the KLX. On the other hand the KLX comes with a slightly better suspension and lighter weight. This is subjective but one of the reasons I bought the KLX is I just LOVE the way it looks in Camo-Gray. I think Hondas are good looking bikes too but the KLX is what gets my heart racing just looking at it. Seems to be built like a tank too - feels VERY confidence inspiring. I plan to "uncork" the KLX with an aftermarket pipe and an airbox mod and I'll be good to go. No, the KLX doesnt have ABS, a gear indicator, nor as sophisticated of a fuel indicator as the Honda (The Kawasaki does have a low fuel light and a flashing display "FUEL")... but to be honest I havent missed those things in the least. Get the one that inspires you!

22F cold lol. Was -22F this morning in Wisconsin. That's a heat wave in these parts. I like the Honda Rally best for me. The larger tank, windscreen and LED headlight is a must for the riding I do.

i will test ride both, but i am edging towards the honda crf 300 rally as i will use for commuting to work as well as some light trail riding at weekends, the larger fuel tank giving 250 mile range is a big plus for me also the honda has a slipper clutch & 8000 mile service intervals i have heard.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I will probably trade my cruiser and dirt bike in for a dual sport in the spring though I keep jumping back between the KLX300, CRF300L, and the Yamaha XT250. Currently leaning towards the KLX but I wont know until I do some test rides or at least sit on each in the showroom floor.
