Canon C-Log Now Available for 5D Mark IV DSLRs

From No Film School's complete coverage of NAB 2017:

C-Log isn't a RAW recording, but it uses the image sensor's characteristics to produce a wide dyanamic range with minimal losses in shadows in highlights. The video appears flat, low in contrast and saturation with muted sharpness to provide flexibility during the color grading process.

That should've been on every mid-range canon DSLR since the C300 and C100

I wish one of you guys would cover this with a little more of a journalist view point and ask what advantage this has over the third party log picture profiles, how much additional if any dynamic range Canon C-Log provides. Also please challenge what the reasoning is that this is a non-user installable firmware update for what is essentially no more then a slight menu update and picture profile install, none of which is complex or outside the realm of a user's ability, let alone warranting people having to be without their camera for a period of time.

Did they say if this is only available on the IV or can it be installed on the III? I haven't played around with it yet but there's a new build for ML that I've been wanting to try out, which does 4K, and I heard rumors it does Clog, but I don't think this build does.
