Which is your favorite exposure tool on the Canon C70?

I enjoy watching your channel Damien. People who want to be told how to operate a camera should read this comment. Go out and make some bad shots and learn from them. Everyone is looking for a shortcut, yet all they really do is try to mimic someone else's style. If you keep shooting, sooner or later you'll develop your own signature style. Enjoy your creative journey!

You did it again, Damien. You took a subject I understood (or thought I did) and led me to a deeper, more practical understanding. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your channel. There are only two good C70 YouTubers that I'm aware of. I'm so grateful that you like to teach ... and that you teach so well.

If you look at the chart at :37 you’ll see you could have gone to 100iso and had an additional 2 stops of latitude in your shadows instead of shooting at 400 iso. Don’t be afraid to go as low as possible with your iso when you can control your highlights

Wow, the adjustments you made with ISO values are an invaluable lesson. I'm sure it would work also on my Canon R5C. Gracias!

Best video about exposure I have seen so far! Great work

Great video, man - short and sweet, good examples, and now I get why raising ISO is important with highlights – because it puts more info into the highlights, where the CLOG2 curve has more capacity to record them. And if there aren't bright highlights, we can (if necessary) lower ISO to 400 without worrying about losing highlight detail, since there are no super-bright highlights anyway. Plus that gives us a little cleaner image in the shadows.

Wow... Very informative video. I just ordered a C70 (renewed) for 4, 200, and I can't wait to try your technique!

Thanks for another awesome video Damien! I’ve been searching for the Redbox in waveforms for a long time and you’re the first person to show where it’s at. Thank you!

If you reduce the exposure by ND and set the ISO up to 2000, to get the right brightness, you only introduce noise. You should expose to right, be aware of clipping highlights, if it is avoidable.

If there is no clipping and you record some 10 bit 422 log or even better, you can always correct the brightness in Post.

If the sensor is more saturated, there is less noise and you also use more lattidude of the log encoding.

Thank you, great video! I always use waveform and my eye. Needs a little training but I'm very fast this way.

Hello, I see that in all your screens the lower horizontal ruler is on the right side. When I hit One stop Iris, it is in the middle. Why is this different in your images? Thanks Harold

Question: I am used to larger studio cameras and new to Canon C70. When you turn on the LUT:LCD, does that apply it to the recorded footage or just to the LCD screen? If only to the LCD screen, why would you do this? I want to see what I am actually filming. Loved your video!

Great video, cleared lot of doubts!
Out of curiosity, wouldn't be another workaround (more tedious indeed) tho shot at 800 ISO with 6 ND and use all that info to then in post mask and expose the face correctly while preserving the rest? Is not the point of getting the clearest image to then be able to apply some post grading?
Cheers!

Great video! Any chance you could recreate this for Clog3 on the R5c?

It’d be great to learn more from you! And if you could compare the difference between R5c raw Clog 2, raw Clog 3 and XF-AVC Clog 3.

Please!!

On that natural light interior, why not leaving ISO 800 and lower levels in post instead of lowering the ISO to 500? Any particular reason?

So your exposure meter is always one bar above/right of centre. Is this how it should be, or did you set it like this?
