Thank god I found this video. I searched the whole YT but no one mentions WHY is it actually shot in log in the first place. Kudos to you, you know some stuff!

i think Raw is to photos and Log is to videos 😄, they're quite similar from what you've said

I’m glad you posted this. Cell phones are the worse. What you see is not the quality of the camera, it’s the quality of the edited picture. The problem is that the software made all the decisions. Part of the creative process is what you decide to do with the raw footage. Your creativity. If you let the camera decide all of your photos or footage will look like everyone else’s.

There is some misinformation here. You described log footage as being the "unedited" version of your video footage but I'm reality log footage means that your standard image/video is run through a logarithmic algorithm in-camera before it is compressed in order to maximize dynamic range in the shadows for more information in post processing. This is different from true raw footage because those video files truly record frames at high bit-depths without any in-camera processing, much like RAW files for photos.

I've been using Lgv30 phone since 2017 and it has got inbuilt cine LOG feature which gives you flexibility for post processing, basically flat color profile in HDR 10 bit sensor with HIFI recording

Not a pro but I'm a enthusiast, but people get confused with Raw video. I understand that Log is a color profile to make color grading more easy and it gives more dynamic range, as for raw you get tons of information. I had the bmpcc and Raw files are insanely heavy. You need tons of space and tons of ram/ROM, cpu and GPU to make it work..

My pixel 6 Pro can record photos in a raw format, I know it's different but I absolutely love the editing I can do on my raw photos, it's soo cool

Log footage skips the beautification step in digital media, and the associated loss of information that results from that. This gives you the most data possible to perform your own image manipulation.
