Here’s a fantastic animation showing the formation of an aortic dissection.

These life threatening injuries are characterised by a tear in the 💡intimal layer of the aorta.

Classification:
This is a Stanford B type…

Stanford A: 🔒 starts at the ‘A’scending aorta (+/- descending)

Stanford B: 🔒 starts at the ‘B’end or ‘B’eyond

💡 A (typically) elderly person with a severe tearing pain through to the back? Think aortic dissection!
