Travelling across the world to a commemoration at the age of 102 was a heroic act in and of itself. Rest in Peace Robert Persichitti. I hope no other generation needs to sacrifice so much in the future.

RIP. He died performing one last heroic duty. We honor you, the other survivors, the deceased and the fallen from so long ago. Sad so many have forgotten the lessons of that war.

I am German and I salute all the soldiers who freed my homeland from the cancer that infected it and treated us not with contempt but with compassion and helped us rebuild and allowed us to join the family of Nations and become the wealthy prosperous peaceful Nation we have become.
Your sacrifice was not in vain and rest in peace!
