A former US Marine that served in WWII told his hospice caregivers that he wanted to meet another veteran that also fought in the Battle of Guadalcanal. Social media made that wish come true.

The fact that those two men fought the same battle, lived to be over 90 AND got to meet each other is just incredible.

Sgt. Hession died 26 days after this video was posted. Sgt Berg only a few months later...

Rest in Peace and thank you both for your service.

I'd rather meet a WW2 Veteran than any celebrity in the world.

A real tear jerker. How can you not love and respect these men for their sacrifices.

Now that’s exactly what social media should be used for.

So great that this vet soldier is with his daughter not thrown away in an elderly home.

My Grandad never fought in the war because he was a coal miner in Yorkshire, England. But his brothers did. One of his brothers was just a few weeks away from surviving the war. He landed on the beaches on D-Day and fought through northern Europe, but was killed in the Netherlands. I get really emotional when seeing surviving WW2 veterans living a good life. They are all amazing for what they did. Too many people don't fully appreciate the scale of the victory and the fact that we can never fully thank them for it.

To anyone who help this vet get his wish--Thank you. To the vets themselves, we will never forget that you did your duty and we thank you for it. God bless you all.

Sadly both of these men passed away soon after, Bill on May 27th and Harold in August. RiP heroes
