Own a 2011 1.4 in SG.

Owned it from 100k mileage to 145k currently.
Soo far i changed,
- brand new mechatronic
- fuse in gearbox
- battery
- radiator
- took out the O2 sensor / emissions
- changed tyre
- changed rims (LOL)
- 4x servicing / 1 gear oil change

Other than that, have to say i love this car. Super value for $ if u know how to take care of it 🙂
And less common to leak compared to similar age BMWs

I’ve got a 2015 2.0 Diesel 150hp DSG - had it 8 years, bought it 5k miles and it’s currently around 75k - brilliant car. Serviced every year, following the service book recommendations and it’s never let me down. Cambelt & water pump done at around 60k.

Only thing I’ve had to replace are both of the front shocks - they were seeping oil and just changed them both for around £400.

Great car! Hope to keep it for atleast another 3 more years

I owned a 2.0 TSI for 11 years and it was fantastic. Didn't have any electrical issues. Only thing was a new water pump replaced under warranty.

Might be worth noting, the timing chain issue only affected 2.0 TSI engines pre 2012 (gen 1 + 2) The gen 3 engines don’t suffer with this. Also would’ve been worth talking about the carbon build up on the valves on the older models. The gen3 has secondary injectors to combat this.

Also those headlights are the best ones 😂. The pre facelift suffered with fading and micro cracks so badly 😞

Great video 🙌✌️

I’ve had mine for a little over 3 years now and driven around 95.000km. It’s still drives beautiful and still is allot of fun.
I’ve the 2.0tdi which has been mapped to 190hp. I do all the maintenance myself at home and even installed the mfsw myself.
Some of these problems are familiar to me and I’ve fixed them myself or had my mechanic do it.

Still absolutely love it and will continue driving it for the coming years.

Thanks for this video! Very helpful! And even though there's a long list of issues mentioned, I very much like this car, always did... I guess the heart wants what the heart wants.

It’s amazing! I used to tinker with vw’s about 20 yrs ago. I had mk3 gti, mk3 vr6 and mk2 g40 polo. Thought about getting a scirocco 1.4 as a basic work runner and came to check reliability. I said to myself “as long as it doesn’t have the ‘old’ electrical problems!! 🤣😂 how is it possible that they still carry electrical problems 25 yrs later?!! I needed an auto electrician to rewire half my golf gti and most of my vr6. I was lucky he was a family member, but i dread to think how much it would have cost to replace all those little rubbed bare wires!!

2010 2 litre tdi. All four dampers done. 2x aircon pumps. Rear boot latch replaced. Egr valve and cooler. 176000 miles. Gearbox is sweet and still pulls well.

Many thanks for the unbiased review, I'm looking to get one of these cars and no, you haven't put me off, rather the opposite if anything. Just need to decide whether to go for DSG or manual. That DSG does sound good though 🤔
Thanks again 😊

Had my SciroccoR since 2017, been brilliant so far.

Had my Rocco GTS nearly 2 years, been great but not bulletproof. 2 major problems so far: coolant leak caused by a worn plastic adaptor part, cost £130 to have replaced. And now I've got 6 warning lights on the dash caused by a faulty ABS sensor which has set off a number of faults with the car's diagnostics and readings.

Have a 2017 TDI DSG R-Line, 48k on the clock, serviced yearly. Not had any issues other than a sensor go bad (exhaust filter stuff).

I have had the injectors go, the fuel flap would not open, had to replace the locking mechanism, and a rear shock absorber fail, which like you said in the video, is an expensive repair, but still a great car.
