If you're buying 20 nozzles for $9, you're buying super low quality nozzles which could have several problems - incorrect size (.34 or .46 instead of .40mm), they will wear out quickly, and lastly when tightening the nozzle they tend to break before they're fully tight once heated. Just a warning. You don't need to get expensive nozzles but the better quality nozzles are worth it. You'll hate yourself when you need to dig nozzle thread out of a heater block or fight demons forever to find out its just a bad nozzle.

If your green filament is of cheap quality, it could be causing jams. Also, if you want to consider cleaning the old nozzles, I’ve had success putting them in the oven at 375 F for about 5 - 10 minutes. Standing upside down on a cookie sheet. If your cleaning kit doesn’t include one, get some acupuncture needles that are the same as your nozzle diameter.

Three things:
Get hold of acupuncture needles.
Learn how to do cold pulls. Even if you open with a needle you need to do a couple of cold pulls.
Get a filament dryer or fruit dryer so make sure the filament is dry.

That clicking noise that we heard sounded like the stepper motor inside the head slipping and digging into the filament. That is why the grooves on the feed wheel were filled up with plastic. You should be able to remove some of the force by adjusting the tensioner wheel. Not sure how to do that for your model. As for the nozzles the cleaning kits are good but tend to break. I always found it better to just get a new nozzle but the cheap ones aren't always good, my way I found was always good to clean the nozzle would be to heat it up with a blowtorch then use a cleaning rod to push all the filament out. I would also use Acetone to dissolve the plastic if it was ABS.

Get yourself a nozzle cleaning kit, its basically really long needles. You can also try a cold pull to clear the nozzle. Just watch a youtube vid on how to do a cold pull, its really easy and works well.

Be caution pulling out PLA if it's not heated up all the way. The ugly half melted bit at the bottom can easily break off or be pulled up half molten and then break off and wind up being much wider than it should up in the cold end, where it'll never melt and feed through. Quite possibly how you got that wide chunk in the middle of the extruder there.

Just checked my printer (prusa i3 mk3) stats - it has 26 days 6 hours of total printing time. Not a single clog or issue. (Note: not bragging, just throwing out some data)

FYI you really shouldn't be changing nozzles 'cold' you should heat up your heat break a little (80c) before removing/replacing the nozzle.

LMAO You're a mad man! I hate when it is too big to stick in the hole!

Next time, get a glass/ceramic cup, pour in enough acetone to cover the nozzle and a bit more, throw in the nozzle, cover it with a small plate and put it into a well-ventilated place (outside if possible, if it's not freezing) for up to 24 hours. It will dissolve ABS into a goo you can then rinse out from the nozzle with some water, use gloves of course when doing that.

Nozzles are dirt cheap and not worth the time to clean and mess with, just replace it and move on. Plus they wear out and the hole gets bigger as they get older (talking about the nozzle). :)

You should try screaming at the top of your lungs at the nozzle before you take it apart. It might work, might not. Who knows

You would think that it would blow out the printer head with compressed air after it’s done

Your camera angles and editing points made me laugh. Good Job!

This is exactly why I haven't bothered getting a 3D printer

I have seen really tiny what looks to be drill bit sets that are used to clean oxy/actetelyn(sp) cutting torches might look for that.

I want one to make model kit parts in the future. But I also want to buy a 3D Scanner for them as well... The struggle of hobbies.
