First they came for the hateful, and I did not speak out for I was not hateful. Then they came for the mean-spirited, and I did not speak out, for I was not mean-spirited. Then they came for the rude, and I did not speak out for I did not want to interrupt. Then they came for the procastinators, and I would have spoken out, but I never got around to it. Then they came for the ambivalent, and I wasn't sure how I felt about that. Then they came for the apathetic, and by that time I just didn't care any more.

It is by the might of the strong the fanciful thrives. It is under the weak that countries perish.

Bret Weinstein and Heather's version of this is something like "it's fine if you want to experiment with gender (as adults obviously), but you need to have a very robust and secure military to protect the space you choose to do this in." This was in response to the US military's migration toward prioritizing woke policy over merit and common sense.

Not just the depth of his argument which comes from his own understanding but also how well read he is. Brilliant Peterson as always.

I started out as a Kennedy Democrat! My parents were Kennedy Democrats. My first time voting was for Bobby Kennedy in the Washington State Primary before he was murdered. It took me about ten years to realize that the Democrats in office were not the same Party of the Kennedy Democrats that I had believed in. I became an Independent voter. When Trump came around as a business man who didn’t need to make money off of the Presidency like the previous Presidents had done, I was intrigued! I now believe that it is not too late to save America from the Democratic Leadership!

When our experiential perspective is collectively lost, the "self-evident" becomes no longer obvious.

It's one of the reasons the returning GI's from WW2 were called the "Greatest Generation."
The horrors of that war gave them an unmistakable truth of a perspective that solidified a strong, self-evident understanding of how life SHOULD be.

I'm from the west coast of the U.S. If you look at the history, all the strong, tough, individualist men, had to come here and tame the wilds, fight off the wolves, fight off the hostile indians, log the land, and build the towns, so that all the liberals could come to places like portland or san fransisco to settle down and start complaining about all the men that made it safe for them.

When one side refuses to see their actions as an imposition to the other side, you will never reach a compromise.

Everytime he says “what would you say…” it’s like the chefs kiss, the icing on the cake! I love hearing his discourse!

No one ever thought a Republicans could be caring, charitable, and compassionate because our values are values are old fashioned. Old fashioned=rigid.

I don't think children should be born out of wedlock, but I want that child to have safety, food, shelter, and an education. I don't hate that child or their mother.

Love of my fellow man is not mutually exclusive to any one political party. I saw it all collapsing 1968 as a 12 year old. Horrible times if you were very young. The fabric of existence was shredding. Regular people started to behave as badly as people on tv and in Hollywood. For example: my friends and I all thought the word divorce, was a curse word. That's how innocent we were at 12, watching everyone who had car keys, go insane. Parents included. My little friends and I, took a right hand turn: looking for stability.

This is essentially what I used to call “the freedom paradox.”

As per usual, Mr. Peterson explains this concept so damned well...

IF THE WORLD HAD FOLLOWED THE FIRST 10 RULES and wouldn't have had to write the 12 rules of the rules 😉

Wish these former moderate liberals would grow a pair and acknowledge that the arithmetic to determine where a person falls on the political spectrum has irrevocably changed and that the 'good liberal' is now firmly conservative. Self identification here holds as much water as William 'Lia' Thomas saying shes a chick.

Reality exists in a harmony of “truth and compassion”.

Truth without compassion is a realistic, but cold and even harsh world. This is the world that conservatives tend to uphold.

Compassion without truth is a delusional world, which might “feel” good but is destructive. This is the world that liberals tend to uphold.

That’s the ultimate conundrum of humanity. We can’t and even refuse to find that harmony between truth and compassion, therefore we’re always choosing between two destructive extremes.
