Derek Ho, in 1993, was the first Hawaiian surfer to win the coveted ASP World Title. The local Hawaii production team of Chris Rust and Ron Mizutani interview Derek after his victory in this clip from the Nalu Vault.

From Sandy Beach to the World Tour to the World Champion: Derek Ho maximized his potential and inspired a generation of young Hawaiian surfers to pursue their dreams. Following in his footsteps were future World Champions from Hawaii- Sunny Garcia, Andy Irons and John Florence.

Brother Michael Ho, nephew Mason Ho and niece Coco Ho carry the surf stoke torch for the Ho ohana.
