Derek Ho surfs what might have been his last epic wave before his passing in July 2020.

April 18, 2020 In the middle of Covid stay at home orders, a late season swell came to the north shore of Hawaii and delivered one of the best surf days of the whole winter. I happened to catch the surfing legend Derek Ho on an insane wave as the sun was setting at Pipeline. I can't believe this was just 3 months ago and he was charging like this at 55 years old! How many others could stick a landing like this? So sad to hear of his passing. He was the first native Hawaiian World Surfing Champion, among his many titles (and also cousin to Don Ho). A hui ho and RIP uncle Derek 💙
