Hades and Anubis aren't technically bad guys in their respective mythologies. They're actually some of the least bad guys in Greek and Egyptian history

Hades is not only of the most iconic God of the Underworld but one of the best gods in all of Mythology. He just tends to be the most vilified of all gods when it comes to pop culture.

Hades deserved better because he often gets portrayed as the evil god when he's really not compared to Zeus and Poseidon who are portrayed as heroic gods when they're really not.

Kratos: “ZEUS!”

Disney’s Zeus: “Do I know you?”

Who else hates it when Hollywood portrays Hades as the villain in every Greek mythology movie when in actual mythology he’s the most nicest of all the gods. He never cheated on his wife “Persephone” except that time with Minthe and he never killed or hurt any of the mortals that live in Greek mythology even though they’re afraid of him.

Just because someone’s god, king or embodiment of Hell, Fear, Dead, Rage or anything that sounds villainous aren’t always evil they’re simply just doing their job. I mean the grim reaper who’s the embodiment of death has never been called evil he’s just doing his job.

Had not expected to see representation from Inuit myth here, great! Also nice to her at least a touch upon Ereshkigal!

I really like Hades depiction in Supergiant's Hades game: He might be the main antagonist, but you learn that he is more complex and not necessarily a bad guy (unlike the control freak from Disney's Hercules)!

Hades is regarded as being the most reasonable and having the most decency between himself Poseidon and Zeus.

I was honestly really shocked when I learned about the legit Hades.
Turns out he's a pretty chill dude in some versions. It's just that his title as Ruler of Afterlife obviously makes him out to be some kind of cruel demon king. All he does is govern the underworld and that's it. And with his lovely wife Persephone that he loves very much and treats her right. (Yes I'm aware he kidnapped her)

In Blood of Zeus while shit was going down I kept imagining Hades kicking back in his throne room and drinking whine with his wife watchijg everything unfold while laughing their asses off.

Hercules and Xena are some of the only shows to treat Hades as a myth accurate character. He was one of the few gods Hercules legitimately got along with. As for Yemma, he's not a bad dude. He'll even let you travel along Snake Way to go train with King Kai if you're worthy enough.

Disney’s Hercules: “If you’re the daughter of Zeus, does this mean you’re my sister?”

Wonder Woman: “I wish I could say yes, but we’re not.”

Osiris's wife Isis was also a goddess of the Underworld. Hecate of magic, the moon, the night, and crossroads was also of the Underworld. She guide the way with her signature twin torches to which of the 3 parts newcomers rightfully deserve. Elysium, Tartarus, or another that's like Purgatory. The Romans called Hecate, Trivia, which not many people know today.

Sekhmet also appeared in Quest for Glory III: Wages of War.

Another Sierra character I'd like to list as an honorable mention is Samhain, the Lord of the Dead who appeared in King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow.
