Since the ancient Greeks believed in a wide variety of gods, the number of Greek Gods is enormous. There were gods and goddesses everywhere, and they shaped how people lived. The most well-known gods, and those who were at the centre of ancient Greek religion, were the twelve gods of Olympus. There were many more than just the twelve, and many of them ruled the universe before the well-known Olympians. However, not all of them were kind and nice, but some were. Who were the Greek Gods who were actually nice? Watch this video to know about them.

Hestia is so nice that her Hearth is considered a neutral territory in Olympus.

Honorable mention: Nyx. Without a doubt the best greek mother. She adored each of her children and showered them with love, and because of that her kids Thanatos and Hypnos turned out to be really chill gods. She even protected Hypnos from Zeus when he pranked him and scared zeus away. She was also known to make the stars form directions for lost travelers or people seeking help. Shs never personally visited mortals but she was particularly fond of them

Hades is also an animal lover. When Heracles (or Hercules by known name) was tasked to capture Cerberus the three headed guardian of the underworld. Obviously this impossible labour was given in hopes that he will die, thanks to hera for that. However Hercules just walked into the underworld and asked is uncle if he could borrow Cerberus and all Hades said was just make sure he doesn’t get hurt and bring him back early.

Hades is the most misunderstood god. His only bad story is the kidnapping of Persephone and even then he was described as being so kind and loving that Persephone actually really wanted to marry the man. Other than this he only has 1 record of cheating on her vs his brothers like Zeus who has literally turned into a swan to get some. It’s sad how misunderstood Hades is.

Another one people don't know about is Harmonia, Goddess of harmony and concord - known as the opposite of Eris, Goddess of discord.

Glad to see Asclepius, Hestia and Hebe getting some recognition.

In some versions, Hades did kidnap and forcefully keep Persephone so he wasn't always the good guy but leagues ahead of the rest of the Olympic gods

I think something important to remember about Hades and Persephone is that (apparently) is the oldest version of their story had nothing to do with them. It was about Demeter, in this version it's more about her feeling of loss about her daughter being married. Now some versions have Persephone being kidnapped, going herself and happening to meet Hades, running away to be with Hades or her marriage being arranged by Zeus(who is her father in some versions). So this sense of loss might be foreign to us once we hear that the kidnapping in only one of many reasons Persephone was married, most of which are either happy or normal. This is probably why modern day version of Demeter can often be portrayed as overbearing(looking at you Lore Olympus). It's kind of insane to insist your kid spend half a year with you instead of their spouse when you can just visit.

But that wouldn't have been the case when the myth was being told. In many old cultures a woman being married meant that she left her family of origin and joined her husbands. Quite literally in some cases. There were women who were married off and would have never see or hear from their mothers again. This was the agony that Demeter faced.

So Hades might never had been an evil kidnapper, but in the society he was apart of, to Demeter he might as well been.

Hades was always nice and kind.He was loyal to his wife, played with Cerberus, and was a hard worker.Just because he’s the god of the underworld, doesn’t always mean he’s a villain.Just because his job associates with death, doesn’t mean he’s rude or cruel.I hate that people depict him as evil.

The fact that the bare minimum for these world renowned gods is
*”At least he didn’t cheat on his wife or unnecessarily kill or rape”* 💀

Hestia even gave up her throne in Olympus for Dionysus

Also, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades give me your local siblings vibe with Zeus and Poseidon constantly blaming Hades for their own shenanigans, and Hades just being quiet about it

Nyx - the creator of all things, hated drama, & protected her kids.

We don't know much about her really because the men in power worked very hard to wipe out the story of a goddess so powerful, Zeus feared her wrath. A wrath she only let loose when protecting her kids no matter what reckless/thoughtless thing they did this time.

Everyone's talking about how Hades was actually nice, but nobody talks about how Zeus punished Prometheus by chaining him up and making a vulture eat his liver every day, just for giving humanity fire.

Hades is the definition of "never judge a book by its cover"

Actually there are a handful of stories where Hades is indeed a bad guy. The majority of them have him simply doing his job dispassionately, neither angry nor happy nor really feeling anything as if personifying the state of death itself. It's a common misconcoption that he was always the good guy, as there is a story where every one of the gods is a good guy and a story where every 1 of them is the bad guy individually For their own stories. It's really cool actually
